Background: We previously pioneered a negatively ionized polyethylene terephthalate membrane method (the SMART technique) with the LAMax (test) occluder to reduce platelet adhesion and promote endothelialization.
Objectives: This study aimed to compare the safety and efficacy of the test occluder with the Watchman 2.5 device (control) in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation to reduce stroke risk.
Polysaccharide, a chain of sugars bound by glycosidic bonds, have a wide range of physiological activities, including hypoglycemic activity. In present study, we established T2DM mice models to explore the effects and mechanism of Maxim polysaccharide (TMSP1) on high-fat diet/streptozotocin (HF-STZ) induced diabetes mice. The results showed that high-fat diet significantly increased the oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT), viscera index, oxidative stress, impaired glucose tolerance, decreased body weight, immune response and short-chain fatty acid (SCFAs) content, and disrupted the balance of intestinal flora structure.

Vaccination plays a crucial role in safeguarding individuals with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) from potential epidemics. In light of the resurgence of COVID-19 in China, unvaccinated IBD patients are vulnerable to infection and potentially serious complications. The aim of this study is to assess the vaccination uptake and willingness among IBD patients, as well as to explore the factors influencing their decision to decline vaccination.

This study aimed to construct and validate an interpretable predictive model of LAT/SEC risk in NVAF patients using machine learning (ML) methods.
Methods: Electronic medical records (EMR) data of consecutive NVAF patients scheduled for catheter ablation at the First Hospital of Jilin University from October 1, 2022, to February 1, 2024, were analyzed.
Aim: To characterize the differences of dynamic changes for absolute lymphocyte count (ALC) among esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) patients treated with neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) with or without pembrolizumab, as well as to investigate the clinical and lymphocyte-related organs dosimetric parameters that would impact ALC nadir during nCRT.
Materials And Methods: A total of 216 ESCC patients who received nCRT (with pembrolizumab 144; without pembrolizumab: 72) were identified from a prospective cohort. Weekly and 1-month post-nCRT ALC were identified.
To expand the potential applications of raw lacquer, snowman-like polystyrene (PS)-urushiol lanthanum (ULa) Janus composite particles were synthesized by emulsion swelling-assisted protrusion from PS/ULa core-shell composite microspheres. The morphology and chemical composition of the PS/ULa composite microspheres and the PS-ULa Janus composite particles were investigated with scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR). The PS-ULa Janus particles were compartmentalized into two parts, each with a different morphology and chemical composition.

Radiotherapy is an important step in the standard treatment modality of many tumors. Combining radiotherapy with therapeutic agents represents a new and promising trend aimed at enhancing radiation sensitivity and improving tumor treatment efficacy.

This study aimed to analyze the effects of dietary Res supplementation in ewes on antioxidant activity, immune responses, hormone levels, rumen microbiota and metabolites across various reproductive stages (estrus, pregnancy, and lactation).
Methods: Twenty-four healthy ewe lambs (Hu sheep, 2 months old) with a similar body weight (BW) (mean: 21.
Background: The purpose of this real-world study was to investigate the risk factors for developing recurrence among patients with pathological T1-3N0 breast cancer (BC) treated with breast-conserving surgery (BCS) followed by whole breast irradiation alone (WBI) and identify those clinically high-risk BCs who could benefit from regional nodal irradiation (RNI).
Materials And Methods: Female BC patients treated at Shanghai Ruijin hospital from 2009 to 2016 were retrospectively reviewed. The disease-free survival (DFS), breast cancer specific survival (BCSS) and overall survival (OS) were estimated by the Kaplan-Meier method, and survival differences were compared with the log-rank test.
Histone deacetylase 6 (HDAC6) belongs to the class IIb group of the histone deacetylase family, which participates in remodelling of various tissues. Herein, we sought to examine the potential regulation of HDAC6 in cardiac remodelling post-infarction. Experimental myocardial infarction (MI) was created in HDAC6-deficient (HDAC6) mice and wild-type (HADC6) by left coronary artery ligation.

We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to evaluate the impact of this combination treatment on clinical symptom and TCM syndrome scores, as well as on the scores of the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI), erythema index (EI), and interleukin 37 (IL-37) levels in patients with rosacea.
Methods: The PROSPERO registration number for the study is CRD42023472737.
Background: To compare the difference of postoperative anastomotic leakage (AL) rate between neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (NCRT) with pembrolizumab and NCRT group, and investigate the risk factors of developing AL for locally advanced esophageal squamous cell cancer (ESCC).
Materials And Methods: The GF was contoured on the pretreatment planning computed tomography and dosimetric parameters were retrospectively calculated. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to determine the independent risk predictors for the entire cohort.
Objectives: While electrical stimulation has been demonstrated to improve medical research council (MRC) scores in critically ill patients, its effectiveness remains a subject of debate. This meta-analysis aimed to discuss recent insights into the effectiveness of electrical stimulation in improving muscle strength and its effects on different clinical outcomes in critically ill adults.
Methods: A comprehensive search of major electronic databases, including PubMed, Cochrane Library, and Embase, was conducted from inception to June 15, 2024, to identify randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that evaluated the effects of electrical stimulation in critically ill patients.

Here, we investigated antibody responses and explored the response of germinal center (GC) to priming with inactivated vaccines and boosting with heterologous adenoviral-vectored vaccines or homologous inactivated vaccines in mice.

Recombinant subunit vaccines have shown safety and efficacy in clinical trials, but further investigation is necessary to evaluate their feasibility as mucosal vaccines. This study developed a SARS-CoV-2 mucosal vaccine using spike (S) proteins from a prototype strain and the omicron variant, along with a cationic chitosan adjuvant, and systematically evaluated its immunogenicity after both primary and booster immunization in mice.

The utilization of WiFi-based fall detection, employing Channel State Information (CSI), emerges as a promising solution due to its non-intrusive nature and privacy preservation. Despite these advantages, the challenge lies in optimizing cross-individual performance for CSI-based methods.
