An updated Checklist of the Myospila Rondani (Diptera: Muscidae) of India with description of a new species.

A list of 19 species of the genus Myospila Rondani, 1856 (Diptera, Muscidae) from India is prepared based on our collection and available literature. The study documented a new species, Myospila himalayensis Jana, Hazari & Sinha, sp. nov.

A taxonomic revision of the Indian species of the 'Aterinervis' group of Culicoides Latreille Subgenus Hoffmania Fox (Diptera: Ceratopogonidae).

The seven species of Culicoides spp. belonging to the Aterinervis Group of subgenus Hoffmania Fox reported from India are revised. The study is based on type material and fresh specimens trapped during the Annual Biodiversity Assessment (2nd & 4th) of Neora Valley National Park (NVNP) in the Darjeeling-Sikkim Himalaya of India.

Larval infestation in a common Pariah Kite (Boddaert).

This paper describes a case of larval infestation in a common Pariah Kite (Boddaert). Examination on the larvae revealed that the larvae were of the family Sarcophagidae (Diptera).

First report of Oriental latrine flies causing vaginal myiasis in human.

The present paper reports a case of human vaginal myiasis in a 22 year old woman. This is the first report of this fly species to cause vaginal myiasis in human till now. The infested maggots were removed from the vagina and cultured in laboratory.

Spatial distribution & physicochemical characterization of the breeding habitats of Aedes aegypti in & around Kolkata, West Bengal, India.

Background & Objectives: Dengue infection is endemic in several areas and the dengue virus is transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes. Thus, it becomes important to understand the breeding ecology of dengue vector and characterize the physicochemical parameters of its breeding habitat. The objective of this study was to analyze the physicochemical parameters of the breeding habitat of the dengue vector and to find out the nutrient composition of the habitat in and around Kolkata, West Bengal.
