Objective: To compare the long-term results of transluminal balloon coronary angioplasty in patients after implantation of drug-eluting coronary artery stents with permanent or biosoluble polymer coatings.

Material And Methods: This was a prospective, comparative, single-center trial. It enrolled patients having at least 70% stenosis who had undergone intracoronary Cypher (SES) or EucaTAX (EUPES) stent implantation.

Aim: To investigate possibility of effect of antioxidant status on severity of restenosis of coronary arteries after transluminal coronary angioplasty with stenting.

Material And Methods: Men with ischemic heart disease and coronary angiography performed in 6 months after coronary artery stenting with bare stents were included in this study. Coronary angiograms were subjected to quantitative computer analysis.

The experiment, on Wistar male rats was carried out to investigate influence of endurance training (swimming with load 7.0 +/- 1.3% body weight, 30 min a day, during 4 weeks) and additional intermittent hypoxic training (12% O2 in N2 - 15 min, 21% O2 - 15 min, 5 sessions a day, during the first 2 weeks) on the following parameters: ADF-stimulated mitochondrial respiration, lactate/pyruvate ratio, succinate dehydrogenase activity, and lipid peroxidation in skeletal muscle.

Basing on analysis of results of ultrasonic investigation and laser Doppler flowmetry, performed in 125 patients with obliterating atherosclerosis of lower extremities arteries in I-II stages, the criterions of the chronic arterial insufficiency severity diagnosis were determined. There was established, that in high functional reserve of microcirculation present it is expedient to recommend to the patients the conservative treatment, as well as physiotherapeutic and sanatorium health resort procedures.

It is shown that laser therapy used in a multiple-modality treatment of patients with obliterating atherosclerosis of vessels of the interior limbs presenting with stage I-III ischemia permits achieving a substantial clinical effect manifested subjectively by fewer compliants or disappearance thereof in a proportion of patients, which fact is corraborated by objective findings such as increase in peripheral, volumetric blood flow and lower degree, in some patients, of ischemia of the extremities, improvement in processes of microcirculation and hemocoagulation. The use of laser radiation and pneumocompression combined in treatment of patients with chronic arterial insufficiency of the lower extremities of atherosclerotic genesis has been shown to have a more marked and appreciable effect. The studies made broaden our possibilities of conservative non-medicamentous treatment of obliterating atherosclerosis of vessels of the lower extremities.

The efficiency of low-intensity laser radiation (LILR) was studied in the treatment of 291 patients with arterial hypertension and ischemic heart disease. Clinical grounds are given for use of LILR red and infrared rays in rehabilitation of hypertensive patients with ischemia. The rehabilitation regimens can be differentiated according to the disease severity, type of hemodynamics, state of cerebral circulation.

The method of hydro- and balneo-laser therapy is highly effective in optimization of adaptation, improvement in physical and cardiac performance. However examination of data in the comparative aspect showed that balneo-laser therapy is a more effective treatment option compared to hydro-laser therapy.

Effectiveness was studied of low-intensity laser irradiation on regulation of arterial blood pressure (BP) in 185 patients (51 men, 134 women). The above patients were prescribed four therapeutic complexes: group I was exposed to infra-red irradiation by zones; group II--to scanning Helium-Neon laser across the portal zone and paravertebrally CIII-Th5; group III--to helium-neon laser in the area of right sinocarotid zone; group IV underwent hydrolaser shower (in red and intra-red range). Complaints were studied as were data from laboratory investigations, the condition of different bodily systems, BP level, the functional state of the cardiovascular system as per electrocardiography and rheography findings.

Numerous examinations during 12-36 months of 16 children suffering from myocarditis and their 37 relatives revealed long-term persistence of Coxsackie A13/A18 viruses in the familial foci of infection in 13 cases. In addition, 9 families were found to have foci of Coxsackie B virus infection of which 2 were also persistent (Coxsackie B1 and B3) and 7 transitory. In 8 families, Coxsackie B viruses circulated simultaneously with Coxsackie A13/A18.

The effect of the growth conditions and composition of the nutrient medium on the synthesis of cephalosporin C, alkaline exoproteases and cell differentiation was studied in various strains of Acremonium chrysogenum. It was observed that the changes in the above processes occurred simultaneously and depended on the aeration rate, temperature, illumination level and concentrations of methionine and soybean meal. Close correlation between the synthesis of alkaline exoproteases, cephalosporin C and formation of secondary structures in the strains of A.

Virological and clinico-instrumental examinations were carried out three times during one year in 13 patients with rheumatic carditis and 34 of their relatives from 13 families. Besides, probands from 5 families had been examined 1-3 years before this study during treatment for rheumocarditis. Among 62 virus strains isolated from feces, blood, and nasopharyngeal washings in the family foci 40 were Coxsackie A13, 12: Coxsackie B1, B2, B5; 10 viruses were not identified.

The synthesis of exoproteases and cephalosporin C in Acremonium chrysogenum is repressed by easily assimilated forms of nitrogen and carbon according to the type of nitrogen metabolism repression and catabolism inhibition. Glucose and ammonium salts inhibited the mycelium fragmentation and prevented formation of conidia. Amino acids had a diverse effect on the synthesis of the proteases and antibiotic.

Exposure of Cephalosporium acremonium, strain 1435, to N-nitrozo-N-methylbiuret resulted in a changed variation coefficient with respect to two quantitative features--the antibiotic production and proteolytic activity. Correlation between the variation coefficient and mutagen exposure time was different for every feature. Positive correlation was found in variation with respect to the antibiotic production and proteolytic activity in populations of various Cephalosporium acremonium strains chosen with regard to one or two of the above features.

The pathological process due to Coxsackie A18 virus and hemolytic streptococcus infection was studied in adult white mice. Their synergistic effect was established as manifested by longer periods of virus detection in the blood and heart and the detection of the streptococcus in animals infected with an 8-fold lower dose. In cases of combined infection, signs of dystrophy, destruction and proliferation developed in the myocardium reaching the highest intensity when the virus and the microbe had been inoculated simultaneously.

The paper is concerned with a study of patients with attack-like progressive schizophrenia--children from 7-9 years. The clinical picture was characterized by affective--delusional attacks of a paraphrenic structure. The interpretative delusion of persecution was in combination with delusional structures of the type of confabulations with false reminiscence.

The effect of N-nitrozo-N-methylbiuret (NMB) on various features of Didymocladium ternatum, an organism producing termatin was studied. It was found that the lethal effect of NMB depended on the exposure time, prolongation of which resulted in increased numbers of the plus variants, morphological mutations and reverses into the populations. Variants possessing 8 times higher activity as compared to the initial culture were obtained as a result of selection of active variants.
