Locomotion control of synergistical interaction between fins has been one of the key problems in the field of robotic fish research owing to its contribution to improving and enhancing swimming performance. In this paper, the coordinated locomotion control of the boxfish-like robot with pectoral and caudal fins is studied, and the effects of different control parameters on the propulsion performance are quantitatively analyzed by using hydrodynamic experiments. First, an untethered boxfish-like robot with two pectoral fins and one caudal fin was designed.

Peripheral leukocyte recognition by manual requires medical technicians to observe blood smears through light microscopy, using their experience and expertise to discriminate and analyze different cells, which is time-consuming, labor-intensive and subjective. The traditional systems based on feature engineering often need to ensure successful segmentation and then manually extract certain quantitative and qualitative features for recognition but still remaining a limitation of poor robustness.

Most camera pose estimation methods use natural features or artificial landmark tools. However, there are mismatches and scale ambiguity for natural features; the large-scale precision landmark tool is also challenging to make.

Interfacial nanobubbles (NBs) and nanodroplets (NDs) have been attracting increasing attention due to their potential for numerous applications. As a result, the automated segmentation and morphological characterization of NBs and NDs in atomic force microscope (AFM) images is highly awaited. The current segmentation methods suffer from the uneven background in AFM images due to thermal drift and hysteresis of AFM scanners.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a non-invasive imaging technique that is often used by radiologists for diagnosis and surgical planning. Analysis of a large amount of liver MRI data for each patient limits the radiologist's efficiency and may lead to misdiagnoses.

In this study, the wetting properties of silicon and silicon nitride AFM tips are investigated through dynamic contact angle measurement using a nano-Wilhelmy balance based method. This is done by capillary force measurement during extension and retraction motion of AFM tips relative to interfacial nanobubbles.

As a result, the development of cell image segmentation algorithms with high robustness and accuracy is attracting more and more attention. In this study, an automated cell image segmentation algorithm is developed to get improved cell image segmentation with respect to cell boundary detection and segmentation of the clustered cells for all cells in the field of view in negative phase contrast images.

In this study, the morphological characterization of NBs in AFM images was carried out with the assistance of a novel image segmentation method. The method combines the classical threshold method and a modified, active contour method to achieve optimized image segmentation.

However, the accuracy of GCSFPs is lower than the required one for some ultra-precision instruments. Especially for the large angles, the axis drift of GCSFPs cannot be ignored.

First, three common ultrasonic detection methods are compared and the ultrasound transmission method is used in this paper. Then, the ultrasound beam in a vertical pipe is investigated, suggesting that the width of the beam used for detection is usually smaller than the internal diameter of the pipe, which means that when bubbles move close to the pipe wall, they may escape from being detected.

A large number of robotics institutes have been attempting to work in conjunction with biologists and incorporated these principles into the design of biologically inspired robots. The motivation of this review is to investigate the most published compliant legged robots and categorize them according to the types of compliant elements adopted in their mechanical structures.
