Resveratrol has been garnering considerable attention as a promising chemopreventive and chemotherapeutic drug against metastatic tumors such as triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). However, the potential application of resveratrol has been highly limited due to its poor solubility, rapid conjugation, low bioavailability, and bioactivity. In this study, a silica mesoporous nanoparticle (MSN)-based drug delivery system (DDS), named Au-Se@MSN, is developed to deliver the loaded resveratrol, endowing it with properties of targeted delivery, excellent bioavailability, and antioxidation of resveratrol.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has been reported to be the third most common malignant tumor and has the highest rate of mortality. To increase the chemotherapy efficacy of HCC, a drug delivery system featured with desirable active targeting ability, delivery efficiency and immune evasion is in high demand. We have developed a drug nanocarrier by utilizing a homotypic cancer cell membrane for targeted chemotherapy of HCC.

EBV-immortalized B-lymphoblastoid cell lines are used as models for cellular transformation and as antigen-presenting cells in immunological assays. LCLs vary in surface markers and other phenotypic properties, but it is not known how this heterogeneity relates to the EBV life cycle. To explore correlations, we examined 62 LCLs for cellular and viral phenotypes.

Monitoring the load of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) in the peripheral blood by quantitative PCR has been accepted as a useful tool for predicting the onset of EBV related diseases, confirming an EBV disease diagnosis and following the response to treatment interventions. In the present study, the use of a realtime polymerase chain reaction (rt-PCR) assay developed for unpurified cell preparations was examined and the results of the realtime assay were compared to an EBV quantitative-competitive PCR assay (QC-PCR). Both assays use the same target sequence and the same method for determining the standard value for the copy number of EBV genomes present.

Background: Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection results in life-long carriage of latent virus in B lymphocytes in the majority of the adult population, including blood donors. The removal of EBV from red blood cell (RBC) components by leukoreduction was assessed.

Study Design And Methods: Sixteen randomly selected fresh AS-5 units were leukoreduced by filtration.

Background: To clarify the features of gene variation among epidemic strains of human rotavirus NSP4 in China.

Methods: SP4 genes from 27 epidemic strains of human rotavirus isolated in different area of China in recent years were amplified with RT-PCR, the resulted cDNAs were cloned and sequenced. The sequences of full length cDNAs were compared with 10 rotavirus NSP4 sequences available in the GenBank using the Clustal x 1.
