Categorization of emotional faces in schizophrenia patients: An ERP study.

Schizophrenia patients often show deficits in facial emotion recognition, which contributes to their poor social functioning. The present study investigated the time course of categorization of emotional faces in schizophrenia patients by recording and analyzing ERPs elicited by emotional faces. Behavioral data show that in comparison with controls, schizophrenia patients categorized emotional faces more slowly with decreased accuracy and did not show evident positive classification advantage.
