This study aims to explore the mechanism behind the influence of stress on gas adsorption by coal during deep mining and improve the accuracy of gas disaster prevention and control. To achieve this aim, thermodynamic analysis was conducted on the process of gas adsorption by loaded coal, and modified thermodynamic model proposed by previous scholars. It is found that stress plays an important role in gas adsorption by coal.

Article Synopsis
  • Volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds (VOCs/SVOCs) are significant pollutants at industrial sites in China, posing health risks as they can easily escape into the air during excavation activities.
  • A study monitored the concentration of gas-phase VOCs during a site remediation project, finding that their levels decreased with distance and followed a fluctuating pattern downwind.
  • Based on monitoring results, a health and safety zoning method was developed to establish safety measures and personal protection guidelines for workers in different areas of the remediation site.
