In this paper, the impact resistance of a cylindrical structure with a buffer ring and an energy-absorbing ring under double impact loads is studied. Based on ABAQUS 2023 finite element software, a simulation model of a buffer ring structure with three different sibs was established, and the specimens were subjected to double impact loading. The results show that the impact resistance of the structure decreases with the increase in curvature radius.

The penetration ability of a 5.8 mm standard projectile can be improved by inserting a ZrO ceramic ball with high hardness, high temperature, and pressure resistance at its head. Thereby, a ceramic composite projectile can be formed.

Dynamic fracture and fragmentation characteristics of explosively driven rings and cylinders are important issues in the field of weapon effectiveness and protection. However, the comparison of fracture characteristics between metal cylinder and rings, and the fracture characteristics of the metal shells at different axial positions, are rarely touched. In the present work, a recovery tank was used to collect fragments, and witness plates were used to investigate the fragment spatial distributions.

WC reinforced Al-based coating with added CeO was prepared on the surface of S420 steel by laser cladding. The microstructure and structure of the coatings were analyzed by scanning electron microscope, X-ray diffractometer and optical profiler. The mechanical properties and corrosion properties of the coatings were studied by microhardness tester, friction and wear tester, Charpy impact tester, and electrochemical workstation.

A hyper-viscoelastic constitutive model for polyurea by separating hyperelastic and viscoelastic behaviors has been put forward. Hyperelasticity represents the rate-independent responses at low strain rates, described by a three-parameter Mooney-Rivlin model and a third Ogden model. By fitting the quasi-static experimental data, the Ogden model is more appropriate to describe the hyperelastic behaviors for its better agreement at strain over 0.

Properties of extruded polymers are strongly affected by molecular structure. For two different semi-crystalline polymers, low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE), this investigation measures the elastic modulus, plastic flow stress and strain-rate dependence of yield stress. Also, it examines the effect of molecular structure on post-necking tensile fracture.
