Objective: Sinonasal inverted papilloma (SNIP) has a risk of malignant transformation into SNIP with squamous cell carcinoma (SNIP-SCC). Early detection of SNIP-SCC is crucial for patient outcomes. This study aimed to evaluate the utility of tumor-related hematological indices in the early diagnosis of SNIP-SCC and to develop a nomogram incorporating imaging and clinical features.

Introduction: Systemic inflammatory and nutritional markers are associated with the prognosis of various cancers. However, their association with sinonasal squamous cell carcinoma (SNSCC) prognosis remains unclear. This study aimed to identify systemic inflammatory and nutritional markers associated with the postoperative prognosis of patients with SNSCC and to clarify the clinical value of these markers.

The existing literature provides little insight into the efficacy of transoral endoscopy in exposing benign tumors originating from salivary glands in the parapharyngeal space at the parotid gland base and resecting part of the deep lobe with a safe margin. This study aims to investigate the efficacy of the endoscopic transoral approach for the visualization and resection of such tumors. Through transoral endoscopic cadaveric dissections and surgical procedures, we examined the anatomical structures of the parapharyngeal space and the deep lobe of the parotid gland, identifying key anatomical landmarks.

Maintaining ecosystem health (EH) in watersheds is crucial for building a national pattern of ecological security. However, a comprehensive diagnosis of watershed EH and an exploration of its driving mechanisms are still lacking. This study proposed an EH assessment model from a vitality-organization-resilience-service-environment (VORSE) perspective.

Article Synopsis
  • Patients with sinonasal and skull base malignancies often face various complications following surgery, and the impact of ICU care on these complications is not well understood.
  • A study analyzed 151 patients over 8 years, comparing those who were admitted to the ICU (56 patients) versus non-ICU (95 patients) after surgery, focusing on their complication rates.
  • Results showed that ICU care did not significantly reduce complication rates compared to non-ICU treatment, indicating a need for further research to explore the ICU's effectiveness in these cases.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focused on eosinophilic chronic rhinosinusitis (eCRS), a difficult-to-treat type of chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS), and aimed to identify differences in characteristics between eCRS and non-eCRS patients in China.
  • It involved 1352 patients, comparing demographic factors and blood indices, and used statistical analysis to find predictors of eCRS, including key blood cell counts.
  • Results showed eCRS patients had higher eosinophil counts and specific demographic factors, with a notable predictor being an eosinophil count over 2.05 × 10/L, which proved to be effective for diagnosis.
