Hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy is considered a safe and feasible method that to provide neuroprotection against ischemic stroke. However, the therapy mechanisms of HBO have not been fully elucidated. We hypothesized that the mechanism underlying the protective effect of HBO preconditioning (HBO-PC) against cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury was related to inhibition of mitochondrial apoptosis and energy metabolism disorder.

Pancreatic cancer with ovarian metastases: A case report and review of the literature.

Background: Pancreatic cancer with ovarian metastases is rare and easily misdiagnosed. Most patients are first diagnosed with ovarian cancer. We report a rare case of ovarian metastases secondary to pancreatic adenocarcinoma.

Primary pancreatic cystadenocarcinoma with ovarian metastases in a 38-year-old female: case report.

Pancreatic cystadenocarcinoma with ovarian metastases is rare and easily misdiagnosed as primary ovarian cancers. Here we report 38-year-old female manifested tumors in pancreas and ovary concurrently, which was difficult to distinguish the primary site. She was admitted to hospital because of abdominal distension and a palpable mass in the lower abdomen.

Apoptotic bone marrow CD34+ cells in cirrhotic patients.

Aim: To access the frequency and level of apoptotic CD34+ cells isolated from the marrow fluid of patients with post-hepatitis cirrhosis.

Methods: The frequency of bone marrow CD34+ cells and apoptotic bone marrow CD34+ cells in 31 in-patients with post-hepatitis cirrhosis (cirrhosis group), and 15 out-patients without liver or blood disorders (control group) was calculated by flow cytometry. Parameters were collected to evaluate liver functions of patients in cirrhosis group.
