Background: Platelet plays a vital role in both physiological and pathological processes. However, the limited storage time of platelet in vitro poses an immense challenge for its applications because of the increased risk of bacterial contamination and platelet storage lesions. Agitation can inhibit lesions by facilitating continuous oxygenation of platelets and permitting excess carbon dioxide to be removed during storage.

An Adaptive Hybrid Model for Wind Power Prediction Based on the IVMD-FE-Ad-Informer.

Accurate wind power prediction can increase the utilization rate of wind power generation and maintain the stability of the power system. At present, a large number of wind power prediction studies are based on the mean square error (MSE) loss function, which generates many errors when predicting original data with random fluctuation and non-stationarity. Therefore, a hybrid model for wind power prediction named IVMD-FE-Ad-Informer, which is based on Informer with an adaptive loss function and combines improved variational mode decomposition (IVMD) and fuzzy entropy (FE), is proposed.

Are proactive employees proactive performers? the moderating role of supervisor-subordinate marital status similarity.

In accordance with the similarity attraction paradigm, this paper investigates when and how proactive employees can be rated as proactive performers by proposing supervisor-subordinate marital status similarity as a relational moderator and leader-member exchange as the mediator. It therefore advances understanding of performance evaluation of proactive employees. Data from a sample of 471 Chinese employees and their 161 supervisors are used to examine the models hypothesized.

Facilitating the Implementation Process of High-Performance Work Systems: The Role of Authentic Leadership.

Although substantive research has devoted increasing attention to variability in human resource practices at the organization, group, and individual levels, the critical role of line managers' leadership in predicting this variability in the human resource management delivery and implementation process has been overlooked. Drawing from social information processing theory and human resource (HR) attributions theory, this study proposes that authentic leadership moderates the positive relationship between department-level high-performance work systems and employee-perceived high-performance work systems. Moreover, employee-perceived high-performance work systems can enhance employees' thriving at work through commitment-focused HR attributions (well-being and performance).

Fluoroscopy-Guided Blockade of the Greater Occipital Nerve in Cadavers: A Comparison of Spread and Nerve Involvement for Different Injectate Volumes.

Background: Fluoroscopy-guided blockade of the greater occipital nerve (GON) is an accepted method for treating the symptoms of cervicogenic headaches (CGHs). However, the spread patterns among different injectate volumes of fluoroscopy-guided GON blocks are not well defined.

Objective: A cadaveric study was established to determine the spread patterns of different volumes of dye injectate within a fluoroscopic GON block.

Hypoxic storage of erythrocytes slows down storage lesions and prolongs shelf-life.

Conventional storage conditions of erythrocytes cause storage lesions. We propose that hypoxic storage conditions, involving removal of oxygen and replacement with helium, the changes in stored erythrocytes under hypoxic condition were observed and assessed. Erythrocytes were divided into two equal parts, then stored in conventional and hypoxic conditions, separately.

A Very Rare Case with Particular H-deficient Phenotypes.

Bombay phenotype, H partially deficient non secretor phenotype and Para-Bombay phenotype are rare blood groups with deficiency or absence of H antigen. A 52-year-old female with Chronic suppurative otitis media was referred to our hospital. The primary serologic results of ABO blood typing were discrepant in forward and reverse grouping.

Treatment of Bennett fractures with tension-band wiring through a small incision under loupes and a headlight.

Purpose: The aim of the study was to present a novel treatment strategy for Bennett fractures using a tension-band wiring technique performed through a small incision with loupes and a headlight. Additionally, this study compared this technique with the conventional percutaneous pinning technique.

Methods: Between January 2014 and January 2017, the tension-band wiring technique was used in 37 patients with Bennett fractures (study group).

Background: Accurate and reliable blood grouping is essential for safe blood transfusion. However, conventional methods are qualitative and use only single-antigen detection. We overcame these limitations by developing a simple, quantitative, and multiplexed detection method for blood grouping using quantum dots (QDs) and magnetic beads.

Analysis of red blood cells' dynamic status in a simulated blood circulation system using an ultrahigh-speed simultaneous framing optical electronic camera.

Alterations in the morphologic and mechanical properties of red blood cells (RBCs) are considered direct indicators of blood quality. Current measures of characterizing these properties in vivo are limited by the complicated hemodynamic environment. To better evaluate the quality of fresh and stored blood, a new research platform was constructed to evaluate the hemodynamic characteristics of RBCs.

Platelet activation is a key event in the pathogenesis of streptococcal infections.

Five purine and carboline alkaloids were isolated from the methanol extract of the ascidian Symplegma oceania. Classic chromatographies including preparative HPLC were used for isolation and purification of the compounds. The structures were established as 6-methoxy-7-methyl-8-oxoguanine (1), 2-methylimino-3-methyl-6-methylamino- 9H-purine (2), 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-betacarboline (3), 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-1-methyl-beta-carboline (4) and 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-beta-carboline-3-carboxylic acid (5) by comparison the spectroscopic data (MS, 1H, 13C-NMR) with those reported in the literatures.

Background: Despite their wide occurrence, cryptosporidiosis and giardiasis are considered neglected diseases by the World Health Organization. The epidemiology of these diseases and microsporidiosis in humans in developing countries is poorly understood. The high concentration of pathogens in raw sewage makes the characterization of the transmission of these pathogens simple through the genotype and subtype analysis of a small number of samples.

Elevation of plasma soluble CD26 levels during pregnancy.

Aim:   CD26 is a type II transmembrane protein with dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPPIV) activity expressed on a variety of cell types. Recent studies have indicated that CD26 or enzymatic activity levels were previously associated with immune-mediated disorders. As immunoregulation is very important for a successful pregnancy, we hypothesize that CD26 may play an important role during pregnancy, and herein, we sought to determine the association between circulating levels of soluble CD26 (sCD26) and pregnancy outcome.

Regulatory role of the MisR/S two-component system in hemoglobin utilization in Neisseria meningitidis.

Outer membrane iron receptors are some of the major surface entities that are critical for meningococcal pathogenesis. The gene encoding the meningococcal hemoglobin receptor, HmbR, is both independently transcribed and transcriptionally linked to the upstream gene hemO, which encodes a heme oxygenase. The MisR/S two-component system was previously determined to regulate hmbR transcription, and its hemO and hmbR regulatory mechanisms were characterized further here.

[Morphology and function of platelets stored in modified platelet additive solution at low temperature].

The aim of study was to evaluate the function of modified platelet additive solution (PAS-IIIM) with trehalose as a substitute of plasma for the storage of platelet concentrates at low temperature (10 degrees C). Apheresis platelets from 6 donors were divided and added with different media (group A: 100% plasma; group B: 70% PAS-IIIM/30% plasma; group C: 100% plasma/trehalose). Groups A, B, C were stored at 10 degrees C, 22 degrees C and -85 degrees C separately.

HCV infection in voluntary donors and its influence on recruitment of donors in Chongqing area.

Blood donor recruitment models have changed from paid donors to employer-organized donors and to voluntary donors in China. Reports on the hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection among voluntary blood donors in China have been rarely found at present. The prevalence of anti-HCV and genotypes among the first-time voluntary blood donors was investigated in Chongqing area of China.
