Owing to the predominant merit of tunable bandgaps, tin-lead mixed perovskites have shown great potentials in realizing near-infrared optoelectronics and are receiving increasing attention. However, despite the merit, there is still a lack of fundamental understanding of the bandgap variation as a function of Sn/Pb ratio, mainly because the films are easy to segregate in terms of both composition and phase. Here, we report a fully stoichiometric synthesis of monocrystalline FAPbSnI nanocrystals as well as their atomic-scale imaging.

The utilization of redox mediators (RMs) in lithium-oxygen batteries (LOBs) has underscored their utility in high overpotential during the charging process. Among the currently known RMs, it is exceptionally challenging to identify those with a redox potential capable of attenuating singlet oxygen (O) generation while resisting degradation by reactive oxygen species (ROS), such as O and superoxide (O ). In this context, computational and experimental approaches for rational molecular design have led to the development of 7,7'-bi-7-azabicyclo[2.

The performance and stability of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are critically influenced by the interfacial properties between the perovskite absorption layer and the electron transport layer (ETL). This study introduces a novel interfacial engineering approach using dipotassium 7-hydroxynaphthalene-1,3-disulfonate (K-NDS) as a multifunctional passivator to enhance both the SnO ETL and the perovskite absorber layer. The sulfonic acid groups (-SO) in K-NDS effectively fill oxygen vacancies on the SnO surface, while the hydroxyl groups (-OH) passivate dangling bonds, improving the crystallinity of the perovskite film.

A straightforward and general strategy for the catalytic asymmetric synthesis of β-tryptophans by carboxylic-acid-directed intermolecular C-H amination has been developed. The iron-catalyzed C-H amination of 3-indolepropionic acids with BocNHOMs (Boc, -butyloxycarbonyl; OMs, methylsulfonate) in the presence of the base piperidine provides N-Boc-protected β-tryptophans in a single step with high enantiomeric excess (ee) of up to >99%. Mechanistic experiments and density functional theory calculations support a mechanism through carboxylate-directed iron-mediated C(sp)-H nitrene insertion.

The electron injection and transport behavior are of vital importance to the performance of quantum-dot light-emitting diodes. By simultaneously measuring the electroluminescence-photoluminescence of the quantum-dot light-emitting diodes, we identify the presence of leakage electrons which leads to the discrepancy of the electroluminescence and the photoluminescence roll-off. To trace the transport paths of the leakage electrons, a single photon counting technique is developed.

We describe the first total synthesis of the unusual cyclopropane-containing indole alkaloid (-)-rauvomine B via a strategy centered upon intramolecular cyclopropanation of a tetracyclic -sulfonyltriazole. Preparation of this precursor evolved through two generations of synthesis, with the ultimately successful route involving a palladium-catalyzed stereospecific allylic amination, a -selective Pictet-Spengler reaction, and ring-closing metathesis as important bond-forming reactions. The key cyclopropanation step was found to be highly dependent on the structure and conformational strain of the indoloquinolizidine -sulfonyltriazole precursor, the origins of which are explored computationally through DFT studies.

Theoretically, tandem quantum-dot light-emitting diodes (QLEDs) hold great promise for achieving both high efficiency and high stability in display applications. However, in practice, their operational stability remains considerably inferior to that of state-of-the-art devices. In this study, we developed a new tandem structure with optimal electrical and optical performance to simultaneously improve the efficiency and stability of tandem QLEDs.

Metal halide perovskites, particularly the quasi-two-dimensional perovskite subclass, have exhibited considerable potential for next-generation electroluminescent materials for lighting and display. Nevertheless, the presence of defects within these perovskites has a substantial influence on the emission efficiency and durability of the devices. In this study, we revealed a synergistic passivation mechanism on perovskite films by using a dual-functional compound of potassium bromide.

Amino acid and peptide radicals are of broad interest due to their roles in biochemical oxidative damage, pathogenesis and protein radical catalysis, among others. Using density functional theory (DFT) calculations at the ωB97X-D/def2-QZVPPD//ωB97X-D/def2-TZVPP level of theory, we systematically investigated the hydrogen bonding between water and fourteen α-amino acids (Ala, Asn, Cys, Gln, Gly, His, Met, Phe, Pro, Sel, Ser, Thr, Trp, and Tyr) in both neutral and radical cation forms. For all amino acids surveyed, stronger hydrogen-bonding interactions with water were observed upon single-electron oxidation, with the greatest increases in hydrogen-bonding strength occurring in Gly, Ala and His.

As an intrinsically direct current device, quantum-dot LED cannot be directly driven by household alternating current electricity. Thus, a driver circuit is required, which increases the complexity and cost. Here, by using a transparent and conductive indium-zinc-oxide as an intermediate electrode, we develop a tandem quantum-dot LED that can be operated at both negative and positive alternating current cycles with an external quantum efficiency of 20.

Alternating current (AC)-driven quantum-dot light-emitting diodes (QLEDs) are superior to direct current-driven QLEDs because they can be directly integrated into household AC electricity and have high stability. However, achieving high-performance AC-driven QLEDs remains challenging. In this work, a bipolar QLED with coplanar electrodes is realized by horizontally connecting a regular QLED and an inverted QLED in series using an Al bridging layer.
