The standard treatment for maxillary sinus cancer is surgery; however, surgery for advanced cases often leads to significant aesthetic and functional disability. Combination treatment (induction chemotherapy) with paclitaxel, carboplatin and cetuximab (PCE) can be effective in head and neck cancer. Article Synopsis
  • Superficial angiomyxoma (SA) is a rare benign tumor marked by myxoid tissue, small blood vessels, and fibroblastic cells, often found in the oral cavity.
  • A case involved a 15-year-old girl with a rapidly growing painless mass in her mandibular gingiva, which was diagnosed as SA after an excisional biopsy.
  • The tumor recurred twice due to positive margins but was successfully resected the second time, with no recurrence observed for over a year, suggesting careful monitoring is crucial due to the potential for local recurrence.

The DIEP flap was harvested with a rectus abdominis muscle in its cranial side. Eighth and ninth costal cartilages were harvested and connected with the muscle.
