Extrachromosomal circular DNA (eccDNA), a pervasive yet enigmatic component of the eukaryotic genome, exists autonomously from its chromosomal counterparts. Ubiquitous in eukaryotes, eccDNA plays a critical role in the orchestration of cellular processes and the etiology of diseases, particularly cancers.
