Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate how the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) relates to the risk of dying within two years in older patients who suffered hip fractures.
  • A cohort of hip fracture patients aged 65 and older was analyzed, with SII calculated from blood tests, and patients were divided into three groups based on their SII scores.
  • Findings showed that higher SII levels correlated with increased mortality risk, indicating that SII could help identify older patients who are at a higher risk of death following hip fracture surgery.

Background: Participants with prediabetes are at a high risk of developing type 2 diabetes (T2D). Recent studies have suggested that blocking the receptor activator of nuclear factor-κB ligand (RANKL) may improve glucose metabolism and delay the development of T2D. However, the effect of denosumab, a fully human monoclonal antibody that inhibits RANKL, on glycemic parameters in the prediabetes population is uncertain.
