The patient was a 50-year-old Japanese woman who was diagnosed with total-colitis-type ulcerative colitis (UC) at the age of 26 years. She was treated with mesalazine and azathioprine, and her disease activity was well controlled. At the age of 50 years, the patient was experiencing fever, abdominal pain, diarrhea, bloody stool, and anal pain, which led to a diagnosis of a relapse of UC.

Most cases of liver dysfunction in pregnancy are pregnancy-related, but the onset of systemic autoimmune diseases is also differentiated. A 24-year-old woman presented with liver dysfunction at 28 weeks' gestation with suspected autoimmune hepatitis and started taking ursodeoxycholic acid. She gave birth prematurely at 35 weeks' gestation, and the infant presented with pancytopenia and liver failure but survived because of liver transplantation.

A 54-year-old man was admitted with obstructive jaundice. Computed tomography showed common bile duct stricture and a tumor around the celiac artery. Repeated endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) as well as a laparotomic biopsy around the celiac artery were diagnostically unsuccessful.

Background: We reported that the pancreas of the interferon-regulatory factor (IRF) 2 knock-out (KO) mouse represents an early phase of acute pancreatitis, including defective regulatory exocytosis, intracellular activation of trypsin, and disturbance of autophagy. The significantly upregulated and downregulated genes in the IRF2 KO pancreas have been reported. The catalogue of gene transcripts included two types of calcium-binding proteins (S100 calcium binding protein G [S100g] and Annexin A10 [Anxa10]), which were highly upregulated in the IRF2 KO pancreas.

Introduction: We developed a novel, reliable and easy method that retains stability of the repositioned flap and vestibular expansion.

Method: The conventionally elevated mucosal flap is secured to the desired depth of the vestibule by the pressure created by the polyvinyl chloride 6Fr suction catheter which is fixed to the alveolar bone with cortical bone screws passing through the inner lumen of the tube. The keratinized free flap is placed on the periosteum conventionally, and horizontal mattress suturing is performed for immobilization, with the suture running through the inner lumen of the tube transversally.

An 83-year-old man with a history of carbon ion radiotherapy for hepatocellular carcinoma nine years ago presented to a primary care hospital with a fever and abdominal pain. He underwent computed tomography, which revealed the rupture of a hepatic pseudoaneurysm close to the fiducial marker for carbon ion radiotherapy and bleeding into the bile duct. He was successfully treated with transcatheter arterial embolization.

Somal translocation in long bipolar neurons is regulated by actomyosin contractile forces, yet the precise spatiotemporal sites of force generation are unknown. Here we investigate the force dynamics generated during somal translocation using traction force microscopy. Neurons with a short leading process generated a traction force in the growth cone and counteracting forces in the leading and trailing processes.
