Background: Cryptococcal meningitis (CM) is an inflammatory mycosis of the central nervous system caused by meninge infection or brain parenchyma with Cryptococcus species. It is associated with high morbidity and mortality, and patients with acquired immune deficiency syndrome are particularly susceptible.
