Foliar image-based characterization of airborne particulate matter in an urban area and its implications for remediation.

This study addresses the pervasive issue of particulate matter (PM) emission in urban areas, proposing a better approach using scanning electron microscope (SEM) techniques to identify plant species effective in airborne PM removal. Conducted in Bilaspur city, the research strategically selected six plant species across four distinct sites and applied the SEM-Image J method for analysis, yielding significant insights, especially in the respirable PM range. Among the tested plant species, Senna Siamea and Dalbergia Sissoo emerged as consistent and standout performers, displaying the highest PM removal efficiency across all sites.

A Descriptive Study of Patients Presenting With Topical Steroid Damaged/Dependent Face (TSDF) to a Tertiary Care Center in Northern India.

Introduction Topical steroid damaged/dependent face (TSDF) is defined as the semi-permanent or permanent damage to the skin of the face precipitated by the irrational, indiscriminate, or prolonged use of topical corticosteroids (TCs), resulting in various cutaneous signs and symptoms and psychological dependence on the drug. The objective was to determine the clinical spectrum of TSDF. Methods This was an observational cross-sectional study conducted between May 2021 and April 2022, comprising 100 consecutive patients of TC-induced facial dermatoses who visited the skin and venereal disease OPD of a tertiary care hospital in northern India.

Early and highly accurate detection of rapidly damaging deadly disease like Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) is essential for providing appropriate treatment to save valuable lives. Recent development in deep learning, particularly transfer learning, is gaining a preferred trend of research in medical image processing because of their admirable performance, even with small datasets. It inspires us to develop a novel deep learning-based leukemia detection system in which an efficient and lightweight MobileNetV2 is used in conjunction with ShuffleNet to boost discrimination ability and enhance the receptive field via convolution layer succession.

Contamination of water resources by artificial coloring agents and the increasing incidence of bacterial illnesses are two significant environmental and public health issues that are getting worse day by day. Traditional treatment techniques frequently fail to address these problems adequately in a sustainable and environmental friendly way. In response, our study presents a novel photocatalyst that demonstrates superior photodegradation capability and antibacterial qualities in catering the above issues.

Background: The mosquito-borne pathogenic alphavirus known as Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) is becoming a greater hazard to public health, which causes thousands of cases annually in both rural and urban areas of many different nations throughout the world. Finding and creating new leads for the CHIKV virus is crucial because there are currently no effective medications or vaccinations against it. The non-structural protein 2 (nsP2) protease has emerged as a promising target for therapeutic intervention due to its crucial role in viral replication.

Unrecognized Inter-Coronary Communication in a Case of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy.

Inter-coronary communication is a rare congenital anomaly, defined as a connection between two patent coronary arteries, and was first described in 1972. We report the case of a 61-year-old Emirati female who presented to the emergency department with chest pain and palpitations, along with a strong family history of cardiac disease. She was initially diagnosed with indolent hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy and accordingly managed; however, the patient remained symptomatic.

Methods for stunting education in impoverished rural areas using illustrated modules in local languages.

This paper presents a novel approach to addressing the challenge of stunting in impoverished rural areas of North Sumatra, Indonesia, through the use of illustrated educational modules in the local Nias language. Stunting, a significant health issue affecting young children's physical and cognitive development, is prevalent in these communities. Traditional educational methods using the national language have proven ineffective due to cultural and linguistic barriers.

A Case Study of Aberrant Aortic Origin of the Right Coronary Artery.

This case report examines a rare cardiovascular abnormality, the Aberrant Aortic Origin of the Right Coronary Artery (AAORCA), in a 75-year-old patient with a history of myocardial infarction, acute renal injury, and cardiogenic shock. Chronic issues, including tobacco use and left ventricular dysfunction, complicated matters, emphasizing the importance of comprehensive long- term therapy.

They are complex and interrelated concepts in geriatric care that require early detection and patient-centered shared decision-making by multidisciplinary, team-led comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA) across all health and social care settings. The primary objective of this study is to investigate the economic burden of multimorbidity and polypharmacy among geriatric patients.

Background & Aims: Despite the WHO and UNICEF recommending exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of a child's life, global coverage remains low, with only about 44% of infants receiving exclusive breastfeeding during this period. In Indonesia, particularly in the Nias Islands, which have high stunting rates, social and cultural dimensions significantly influence this practice. This study aims to explore in depth the social dimensions behind early infant feeding practices.

Methods: Cost-utility analysis and budget impact analysis (BIA) were conducted on individuals aged ≥ 50 years with osteoarthritis of the knee (OA knee) Kellgren-Lawrence grades 2 and 3 using a provider's perspective. Three scenarios were considered, varying the age at which TKR is administered while assuming a 20-year lifespan for the implant.

Stigmatization is a widespread social process that is sustained via the use of social, cultural, economic, and political power, and it has negative outcomes such as discrimination and exclusion. In India, transgender people have historically been called Hijra, Aravanis, and Kothis, and they have struggled since British colonialism against cisgender and heteronormative conventions that label them as outsiders despite their deep pre-colonial cultural origins.
