Purpose Of Review: Catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT) is a devastating heritable channelopathy that can lead to sudden cardiac death in children and young adults. This review aims to explore genetics, the cardiac and extracardiac manifestations of mutations associated with CPVT, and the challenges involved with managing phenotypically variable variants.

Recent Findings: The understanding of the genetics and mechanisms of CPVT continues to grow with recent discoveries including alternative splicing of cardiac TRDN and calmodulin gene variants.

Purpose: To evaluate the effectiveness of prophylactic mesh placement in reducing the incidence of parastomal hernias following colostomy, ileostomy, and ileal conduit formation.

Methods: A systematic review identified relevant studies evaluating parastomal hernia incidence with prophylactic mesh use during stoma formation. Pairwise meta-analysis and network meta-analysis using Bayesian modeling were performed.

Background And Objective: Recommendations of first-line therapies for metastatic hormone-sensitive (mHSPC), nonmetastatic castrate-resistant (M0CRPC), and metastatic castrate-resistant (mCRPC) prostate cancer do not account for cardiotoxicity due to a lack of clear prior evidence. This manuscript assesses cardiotoxicity of these therapies.

Methods: We searched Ovid Medline, Elsevier Embase, and the Cochrane Library for randomized clinical trials (RCTs) from database inception to January 14, 2024.

Regenerative therapeutics for treating peripheral arterial disease are an appealing strategy for creating more durable solutions for limb ischemia. In this work, we performed preclinical testing of an injectable formulation of syndecan-4 proteoliposomes combined with growth factors as treatment for peripheral ischemia delivered in an alginate hydrogel. We tested this therapy in an advanced model of hindlimb ischemia in rabbits with diabetes and hyperlipidemia.

Background: There is a growing body of literature implicating angiotensin II in the modulation of tumour-associated inflammation and pain. However, the impact of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEis) and angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) on pain and inflammation has not yet been studied in oral cancers. The objective is to investigate the role of ACEi and ARB pharmacotherapy on preoperative pain and inflammatory biomarkers, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) and monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio (MLR), in patients with oral cancer.
