Mitochondria are versatile and complex organelles that can continuously communicate and interact with the cellular milieu. Deregulated communication between mitochondria and host cells/organelles has significant consequences and is an underlying factor of many pathophysiological conditions, including the process of aging. During aging, mitochondria lose function, and mitocellular communication pathways break down; mitochondrial dysfunction interacts with mitochondrial dyscommunication, forming a vicious circle.

Therapeutic hypothermia is routinely used in severe TBI, and pathophysiological hyperthermia, frequently observed in TBI patients, has an unclear impact on drug transport in the injured brain due to a lack of study on its effects. We investigated the effect of post-traumatic therapeutic hypothermia at 33°C and pathophysiological hyperthermia at 39°C on brain transport and cell uptake of neuroprotectants after TBI.

Bone defect healing is a multi-factorial process involving the inflammatory microenvironment, bone regeneration and the formation of blood vessels, and remains a great challenge in clinical practice. Combined use of three-dimensional (3D)-printed scaffolds and bioactive factors is an emerging strategy for the treatment of bone defects. Scaffolds can be printed using 3D cryogenic printing technology to create a microarchitecture similar to trabecular bone.

The clinical findings of PET-CT studies are contained within free text reports, which can currently only be categorised by experts manually reading them. Pre-trained transformer-based language models (PLMs) have shown success in extracting complex linguistic features from text.

Radiation-induced lung injury is a common complication of chest tumor radiotherapy; however, effective clinical treatments are still lacking. Stem cell-derived exosomes, which contain various signaling molecules such as proteins, lipids, and miRNAs, not only retain the tissue repair and reconstruction properties of stem cells but also offer improved stability and safety. This presents significant potential for treating radiation-induced lung injury.

This study aimed to investigate the association between adherence to four established healthy eating patterns and subsequent CD or UC risk, and further examined whether these associations are linked to anti-inflammatory mechanisms.
Methods: We conducted a prospective cohort study of 197,391 participants from the UK Biobank who completed at least one dietary questionnaire and were free from inflammatory bowel disease or cancer at baseline.
Objectives: There are currently various tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI)-based regimens available, and it can be challenging for clinicians to determine the most effective and safe option due to the lack of direct comparisons between these regimens. In this study, we conducted a network meta-analysis comparing the efficacy and safety of distinct regimens to determine the optimal regimen for patients with EGFR-mutated non-small cell lung cancer, thereby facilitating clinical decision-making.
Materials And Methods: The PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library databases and international conference databases were comprehensively searched from their inception to 02 April 2024 for collecting data regarding efficacy and safety from eligible randomized controlled trials (RCTs).
Background: The ACEF score (age, creatinine, and left ventricular ejection fraction) and the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index have been identified as robust risk prediction models for adverse outcomes post-percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in coronary atherosclerotic heart disease (CHD) patients. This study aimed to assess whether incorporating the TyG index enhances the predictive ability of the ACEF score and enhances risk stratification for CHD patients undergoing PCI.
Methods: This observational cohort study enrolled 1248 patients diagnosed with CHD who underwent PCI at the Third People's Hospital of Chengdu, China, between May 2018 and December 2022.

Backgrounds: Considering the crucial role of military personnel's mental health in the armed forces, society, and the nation, the present study aims to describe the prevalence and influential factors of depression, anxiety, insomnia, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) among Chinese military personnel during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Methods: The present study conducted an epidemiological investigation of mental health among Chinese military personnel between October 25th and November 10th, 2022. Data was collected from military units in thirty provinces across the country.
Background: Migrant elderly following children (MEFC) is an emerging special elderly mobile migrant population in China. MEFC face multiple dilemmas of distress, which makes their depressive symptoms more prominent. To explore ways to alleviate depressive symptoms, this study aimed to investigate the chain mediating effects of resilience and loneliness on the relationship between social support and depressive symptoms among MEFC.

Methods: A representative sample of the Chinese general population in terms of age, gender, education, and urban/rural residence was recruited for an online survey.
Background: The clinical manifestations of subacute combined degeneration of spinal cord (SCD) in children are complex and vary greatly. Notably, some SCD patients may be complicated with autoimmune diseases, leading to high early misdiagnosis and missed diagnosis rates.
Case Presentation: In this study, a case involving an adolescent female with repetitive severe anemia, multiple joint swelling and pain in the left limbs, and paralysis of the bilateral lower limbs with serum vitamin B12 deficiency, polyglandular involvement, and various positive auto-antibodies (anti‑intrinsic factor antibody, anti‑parietal cell antibody, thyroid peroxidase antibody, thyroid globulin antibody and perinuclear anti‑neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody) is reported.
Introduction: Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are a leading cause of mortality worldwide. Red blood cell indices (RBIs) are associated with CVD risk factors (CRFs) and easy to test, making them useful as a screening tool for early identification of individuals at high risk for CVDs.
Methods: Data from 31,781 participants in the China National Health Survey conducted from 2012 to 2017 were analyzed.
Purpose: This umbrella review aimed to summarise and synthesize the evidence on the outcomes reported and used to assess the value and or efficacy of geriatric assessments (GAs) for older adults with cancer.
Methods: Six electronic databases, PsycINFO, MEDLINE, Embase, CINAHL, Cochrane Library and Web of Science databases, were searched to identify systematic reviews with or without meta-analyses that described the value or outcomes of GAs for older adults with cancer.
Results: Twenty-six systematic reviews were included, of which six included a meta-analysis of the data.

Spike-related traits and plant height (PH) are greatly associated with wheat yield. Identification of stable quantitative trait loci (QTL) for these traits is crucial for understanding the genetic basis for yield and their further application in breeding. In this study, QTL analysis for spikelet number per spike (SNS), spike length (SL), spike compactness (SC) and PH was performed using a recombinant inbred line (RIL) population derived from a cross between wheat cultivars Mianmai902 (MM902) and Taichang29 (TC29).

It is applicable to a wide range of unactivated alkenes, using the inexpensive photocatalyst 2,4,6-triphenylpyrylium tetrafluoroborate (TPPT) to produce a diverse array of heterocycles containing sulfonyl and thiocyano groups with good functional group tolerance. The protocol operates under mild, chemical oxidant- and transition-metal-free, with a broad scope of substrates.

Mainstream machine learning techniques, such as convolutional neural networks (CNN), often rely on single-domain inputs, which may provide limited information for accurate damage identification. To overcome this limitation, this study proposes a novel approach that combines an inner product matrix (IPM) with a parallel CNN (IPM-PCNN) to extract multidimensional features for detecting structural damage in a steel frame structure.

Inter-regional input-output (IRIO) tables are essential for socioeconomic and environmental analysis. This paper compiled a continuous time series of Chinese IRIO tables with a detailed regional and sectoral classification, covering a longer period from 1987 to 2017 than existing Chinese IRIO tables. Additionally, we integrated the China provincial CO emission inventory data (1987-2017) to analyze trends and identify the main driving factors behind regional economic linkages and carbon emissions changes.
