Background: Hemodialysis (HD) patients represent a high-risk group for hepatitis B infection. It is crucial to administer hepatitis B vaccination and stimulate higher and more sustained levels of anti-HBs. Our aim is to enhance the immunogenicity and persistence by implementing high-dose and prolonged hepatitis B vaccine schedule regimen in HD patients.

Objective: Chronic inflammation is a common feature in diabetes, especially when blood sugar levels are poorly controlled. This chronic low-grade inflammation can affect various organs, including the kidneys. Podocyte damage play a key role in the development of diabetic nephropathy (DN).

This study aimed to construct an eukaryotic expression vector, pEGFP-N1-MIC-1, for overexpressing the mouse macrophage inhibitory cytokine-1 (MIC-1) gene. Additionally, we transfected the MFC cell line to observe the upregulation of MIC-1 gene expression and assess its impact on macrophage phenotype conversion. Enzyme digestion and DNA sequencing confirmed the successful construction of the pEGFP-N1-MIC-1 vector.

Sirtuin 6 (SIRT6) can inhibit the fibrosis of many organs. However, the relationship between SIRT6 and peritoneal fibrosis (PF) in peritoneal dialysis (PD) remains unclear. We collected 110 PD patients with a duration of PD for more than 3 months and studied the influence of PD duration and history of peritonitis on SIRT6 levels in PD effluents (PDEs).

Background/aim: In addition to its established role in regulating circadian rhythms and reducing inflammation, melatonin has been demonstrated to possess anti-cancer properties. In this study, we investigated the effects of exosomal miRNAs released by melatonin-treated GC cells on gastric cancer.

Materials And Methods: To identify the potential exosomal miRNAs involved in the treatment of gastric cancer, we performed exosome small RNA sequencing (sRNA-seq) to screen significant changes in 34 exosomal miRNAs in AGS cells before and after melatonin treatment.

Background: Hemodialysis patients are prone to gastrointestinal bleeding, and Mallory-Weiss syndrome (MWS) is one of the causes. Mallory-Weiss syndrome is often induced by severe vomiting, manifests as upper gastrointestinal bleeding, and is self-limited with a good prognosis. However, mild vomiting in hemodialysis patients can lead to the occurrence of MWS, and the mild early symptoms are easy to misdiagnose, leading to the aggravation of the disease.

Owing to the fact that the conventional Temperature Drift Error (TDE) precise estimation model for a MEMS accelerometer has incomplete Temperature-Correlated Quantities (TCQ) and inaccurate parameter identification to reduce its accuracy and real time, a novel TDE precise estimation model using microstructure thermal analysis is studied. First, TDE is traced precisely by analyzing the MEMS accelerometer's structural thermal deformation to obtain complete TCQ, ambient temperature and its square , ambient temperature variation ∆ and its square ∆, which builds a novel TDE precise estimation model. Second, a Back Propagation Neural Network (BPNN) based on Particle Swarm Optimization plus Genetic Algorithm (PSO-GA-BPNN) is introduced in its accurate parameter identification to avoid the local optimums of the conventional model based on BPNN and enhance its accuracy and real time.

Polychlorinated diphenyl ethers (PCDEs) have been detected in various aquatic matrices, which pose potential threats to aquatic ecosystem security. In this work, both micro and macro analysis methods were used to assess the toxicity of PCDEs to zebrafish. Results indicated that after PCDE exposure, the oxidative stress and related gene of were significantly changed.

Background: Horseshoe kidney (HSK) is a common congenital defect of the urinary system. The most common complications are urinary tract infection, urinary stones, and hydronephrosis. HSK can be combined with glomerular diseases, but the diagnosis rate of renal biopsy is low due to structural abnormalities.

Exosomal microRNA (miRNA) secreted by tumor cells plays an important biological role in tumorigenesis and development. We aimed to explore the effects of exosomal miR-155-5p in gastric cancer (GC) and understand its mechanism of action in GC progression. We isolated exosomes from the human gastric mucosal epithelial cell line GES-1 and gastric cancer cell line AGS, and then identified them according to their surface markers by flow cytometry.

Compared with fractional-order chaotic systems with a large number of dimensions, three-dimensional or integer-order chaotic systems exhibit low complexity. In this paper, two novel four-dimensional, continuous, fractional-order, autonomous, and dissipative chaotic system models with higher complexity are revised. Numerical simulation of the two systems was used to verify that the two new fractional-order chaotic systems exhibit very rich dynamic behavior.

This paper presents a new no-equilibrium 4-D hyperchaotic multistable system with coexisting hidden attractors. One prominent feature is that by varying the system parameter or initial value, the system can generate several nonlinear complex attractors: periodic, quasiperiodic, multiple topology chaotic, and hyperchaotic. The dynamics and complexity of the proposed system were investigated through Lyapunov exponents (LEs), a bifurcation diagram, a Poincaré map, and spectral entropy (SE).

Gastric cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors worldwide and has the second highest incidence and mortality rate among malignant tumors in China. Prostate-derived Ets factor (PDEF) is a member of the Ets family of transcription factors. Although PDEF plays an important role in tumorigenesis, its biological function in gastric cancer is still unclear.

Peritoneal dialysis (PD)-associated peritoneal fibrosis is a serious complication in patients with chronic renal failure on dialysis maintenance. Studies have shown that patients on long‑term PD have chronic inflammation. The epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) induced by inflammation is a major cause of peritoneal fibrosis and dysfunction.

Background: The aim of this study was to investigate the potential effects of the 5, 10, 15, 20-tetrakis (1-methylpyridinium-4-yl) porphyrin (TMPyP4) on the proliferation and apoptosis of SW480 cells and the underlying mechanisms by which TMPyP4 exerted its actions.

Methods: After treated with different doses of TMPyP4, cell viability was determined by MTT method, the apoptosis was observed by flow cytometry (FCM) and the expression of Wnt, GSK-3β, β-catenin and cyclinD1 was measured by RT-PCR and Western blot analysis.

Results: The analysis revealed that TMPyP4 potently suppressed cell viability and induced the apoptosis of SW480 cells in a dose-dependent manner.
