Article Synopsis
  • Most complex renal stones are treated with percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL), but navigating adjacent structures is challenging for surgeons, highlighting the need for new techniques.
  • The study evaluated the Hisense computer-assisted surgery (CAS) system in PCNL with 60 patients, comparing a CAS group using 3D models to a control group using standard techniques.
  • Results showed that the CAS group had significantly higher success rates for puncturing attempts (90% vs. 67%) and initial stone-free rates (87% vs. 63%), but no significant differences in operation time, hemoglobin changes, or complication rates.
