Objective: The study aims to analyze the clinical characteristics of acute phase of SARS-CoV-2 infection in children aged 0-17 years with the Omicron variant, and summarize the persistent symptoms or new-onset clinical manifestations from 4 to 12 weeks after acute COVID. Explore the association between the vaccination status and SARS-CoV-2 neutralizing antibody levels post infection among preschool-aged children. The comprehensive study systematically describes the clinical characteristics of children infected with SARS-CoV-2, providing a foundation for diagnosis and evaluating long-term COVID in pediatric populations.

Objective: Analysis of SARS-CoV-2 IgG antibody and neutralizing antibody levels following SARS-CoV-2 infection in children aged 3-11 years, comparing those who had received the inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccine to those who were unvaccinated prior to infection, provides evidence for public health centers in formulating vaccination strategies and control policies.

Methods: A study was conducted on children who visited the Children's Hospital, Capital Institute of Pediatrics from January 10, 2023 to March 31, 2023 (Beijing, China). Participants or their guardians completed a survey questionnaire providing information about their SARS-CoV-2 infection history and vaccination status.

Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluates Heparin-binding protein (HBP) as a potential biomarker for diagnosing and predicting outcomes in severe sepsis among children in the PICU.
  • Conducted in nine PICUs in China, it analyzed plasma levels of HBP along with other biomarkers in 355 pediatric patients over two time points.
  • Results indicated that higher HBP levels are associated with severe sepsis and organ dysfunction, with decreasing levels over 72 hours linked to lower in-hospital mortality, suggesting its utility in clinical settings.

Background: This study attempts to explore the influencing factors and solutions of the colloidal gold method for novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV)-specific IgM/IgG antibody detection, summarize the clinical experience and perfect the examination process, improving the application value of antibody detection in COVID-19 diagnosis.

Methods: A total of 13,329 peripheral whole blood/plasma/serum samples were obtained for COVID-19 screening from children who visited the Children's Hospital of the Capital Institute of Pediatrics outpatient clinic from April 22, 2020, to November 30, 2020. The colloidal gold method was adopted for 2019-nCoV-specific IgM/IgG antibody detection.

Background: Reference intervals (RIs) are normal ranges of clinical indicators established from healthy subjects, and comparing test results with RIs is the first step for clinicians in differentiating between healthy and diseased subjects. Capillary blood is widely used in complete blood count (CBC) tests in children; however, capillary blood-based RIs for the CBC parameters are still lacking for all pediatric populations. The aim of this study was to establish capillary blood-based RIs for the CBC parameters in children aged 3 months to 18 years in Beijing.
