We aimed to report probe-dependent characteristic of RAF values using CYP3A4 or CYP2C9 probes. Metabolism of four CYP3A4 probes (testosterone, midazolam, verapamil and atorvastatin) and three CYP2C9 probes (tolbutamide, diclofenac and S-warfarin) in human liver microsomes (HLM) and cDNA-expressed recombinant CYP450 (Rec-CYP450) systems were characterized and RAF value was estimated as ratio of probe intrinsic clearance in HLM to that in Rec-CYP450.

The results demonstrated that VDR was prominently localized in GCs, with expression increasing with follicle diameter. Addition of Vit D (1α,25-(OH)VD; 10 nM) to GCs caused an increase in VDR and in steroidogenic acute regulator (StAR) and 3β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (3β-HSD) mRNA expression.

Organic acids play an important role in cadmium availability, uptake, translocation, and detoxification. A sand culture experiment was designed to investigate the effects of citric acid on Cd uptake, translocation, and accumulation in tall fescue and Kentucky bluegrass. The results showed that two grass species presented different Cd chemical forms, organic acid components and amount in roots.

However, there is no data showing the existence of GALNTL5 in ram testis at various developmental stages and its influence on sperm motility. Therefore, the objectives of the present study were to evaluate the presence of GALNTL5 in the testis of 3-24 months (M) ram and to investigate the expression of GALNTL5 in spermatozoa with different motilities.

In this study, we found that PHF14, a newly identified PHD finger protein, is highly expressed in lung cancer. The high expression level of PHF14 was associated with adenocarcinoma and poor survival in lung cancer patients.

Emerging evidence indicates that cell polarity proteins function as upstream modulators that regulate the Hippo pathway. However, little is known about Par3's involvement in the Hippo pathway.

Polymeric micelles have exhibited attractive properties as drug carriers, such as high stability in vivo and good biocompatibility, and been successfully used to dissolve various drugs of poor aqueous solubilities. In this study, we developed a new type of polymeric micelles with mannose-mediated targeting and pH-responsive drug release properties for anticancer drug delivery. The polymeric micelles were prepared from an amphiphilic polymer, poly (glycidyl methacrylate)-g-mannose (PGMA-Mannose).

Methods: Thirty adult subjects receiving PK at Shandong Eye Institute and with clear grafts and no sign of immune rejection after surgery were recruited into this study, and 10 healthy adults were controls. The keratocytes and dendritic cells in the central graft were evaluated by laser scanning confocal microscopy, as well as epithelium cells, keratocytes, corneal endothelium cells, and corneal nerves (especially subepithelial plexus nerves).
Toll-like receptors (TLRs) are involved in the progression of ischemic brain injury and hence vascular dementia; however, the underlying mechanisms are largely unknown. Here, we have investigated the interrelationship between stress-responsive heme oxygenase (HO)-1 isoenzyme and TLR4 during chronic brain hypoperfusion. The right unilateral common carotid artery occlusion was performed by ligation of the right common carotid artery in C57BL/6J mice.

Eight corneal buttons of advanced keratoconus were examined by immunohistochemistry. The keratocyte densities in the sub-Bowman's stroma, anterior stroma, and posterior stroma and the mean SNP density were significantly different among the three groups.

Earlier study revealed that the 4th day of gestation (GD4) and GD5 were the most sensitive exposure time on which the number of implanted embryos decreased obviously in mice. Leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) in maternal uterine tissue is involved in embryo implantation, which is produced by endometrium and Th2 cells that participate in cellular adhesion of maternal-fetal interface.

There is increasing evidence that chronic noise stress impairs cognition and induces oxidative stress in the brain. Recently, orientin, a phenolic compound abundant in some fruits, millet, and herbs, has been shown to have antioxidant properties. This study investigated the potential effects of orientin against chronic noise-induced cognitive decline and its underlying mechanisms.

Currently, most of the fluorescent DNA detection methods employ DNA as a probe for recognition of target DNA. Peptide nucleic acid (PNA) is a DNA mimic but a neutral molecule, showing superior hybridization properties to target DNA.

In this work, R-GO was prepared by reduction of GO with hydrazine, and the FET biosensor was fabricated by drop-casting the R-GO suspension onto the sensor surface. PNA instead of DNA as the capture probe was employed, and DNA detection was performed through PNA-DNA hybridization by the R-GO FET biosensor.
