Forest canopy closure (FCC) is an important parameter to evaluate forest resources and biodiversity. Using multi-source remote sensing collaborative means to achieve regional forest canopy closure inversion with low cost and high-precision is a research hotspot. Interleukin (IL)-6 and the downstream Janus kinase (JAK)/signal activator of transcription (STAT) pathway have been found to be important in the development of colorectal cancer (CRC). To develop novel therapies for CRC, we have explored the effects of a novel small-molecule JAK inhibitor (AZD1480) on IL-6/JAK/STAT3 pathway and its potential antitumor activity on the human CRC cell lines (HCT116, HT29 and SW480). The results showed that, AZD1480 effectively prevents constitutive and IL-6-induced JAK2 and STAT-3 phosphorylation and exerted antitumor functional effects by a decrease in proliferation and an increase in apoptosis in CRC cells.

Controversies regarding the function of guard cell chloroplasts and the contribution of mesophyll in stomatal movements have persisted for several decades. Here, by comparing the stomatal opening of guard cells with (crl-ch) or without chloroplasts (crl-no ch) in one epidermis of crl (crumpled leaf) mutant in Arabidopsis, we showed that stomatal apertures of crl-no ch were approximately 65-70% those of crl-ch and approximately 50-60% those of wild type. The weakened stomatal opening in crl-no ch could be partially restored by imposing lower extracellular pH.

Among the cytokines linked to inflammation-associated cancer, interleukin (IL)-6 drives many of the cancer 'hallmarks' through downstream activation of the Janus kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (JAK/STAT3) signaling pathway. Additionally, dysregulation of the interleukin (IL)-6-mediated JAK/STAT3 signaling pathway is closely related to the development of diverse human solid tumors including colorectal cancer (CRC).
