The poor conductivities and instabilities of accessible nickel oxyhydroxides hinder their use as oxygen evolution reaction (OER) electrocatalysts. Herein, we constructed Fe-NiOOH-O-600, an Fe-doped nickel oxide hydroxide with abundant oxygen vacancies supported on nickel foam (NF), using a hydrothermal method and an electrochemical activation strategy involving 600 cycles of cyclic voltammetry, assisted by the precipitation/dissolution equilibrium of ferrous sulfide (FeS) in the electrolyte. This two-step method endows the catalyst with abundant Fe-containing active sites while maintaining the ordered structure of nickel oxide hydroxide (NiOOH).

To investigate the effect of salinity (1% sodium chloride) on anaerobic microbial community structure in high strength telephthalic wastewater treatment system, the performances of anaerobic-aerobic process and the shifts of microbial community in anaerobic tank were studied and determined. A novel fluorescence application for simultaneous determination of two common fungicide pesticides (carbendazim and chlorothalonil) in peanut oil is presented. Using the strategy of combining excitation-emission matrix (EEM) fluorescence with three-way calibration methods, the proposed approach successfully achieved quantitative analysis of carbendazim and chlorothalonil pesticide residues in peanut oil, even with highly overlapped spectra. It needs little preparation, using "mathematical separation" instead of "analytical separation" to achieve concentration prediction of target analytes in complex systems.

In order to investigate long-term effect of cefalexin (CFX) on the performance of expanded granular sludge bed (EGSB) system and microbial community structure, two 1.47 L EGSB reactors E1 and E2 were designed and run for 224 days treating with synthetic antibiotic wastewater. Photonic crystal fiber can generate particular dispersion properties and highly nonlinear, because of the special guiding mechanism and the adjustable structure parameters,which provides new conditions for the study of nonlinear fiber optics. There are rich nonlinear spectral properties produced by a variety of nonlinear physical effect, under different pump light pulse parameters in photonic crystal fibers with different structure and transmission properties. At present many papers have reported the experimental results of nonlinear optical properties in photonic crystal fiber, but there is little theoretical analysis about the produced mechanism and the change rule of the nonlinear spectrum.

According to the spectral absorption characteristics of polluting gases and fluorescence characteristics, a time-division multiplexing detection system is designed. Through this system we can detect Methane (CH4) and sulfur dioxide (SO2) by using spectral absorption method and the SO2 can be detected by using UV fluorescence method. In this paper, fluorescence spectra properties of potassium sorbate in aqueous solution and orange juice are studied, and the result.shows that in two solution there are many difference in fluorescence spectra of potassium sorbate, but the fluorescence characteristic peak exists in λ(ex)/λ(em) = 375/490 nm. It can be seen from the two dimensional fluorescence spectra that the relationship between the fluorescence intensity and the concentration of potassium sorbate is very complex, so there is no linear relationship between them.

Assessment and early warning of land ecological security (LES) in rapidly urbanizing coastal area is an important issue to ensure sustainable land use and effective maintenance of land ecological security. In this study, an index system for the land ecological security of Caofeidian new district was established based on the Pressure-State-Response (P-S-R) model. Initial assessment units of 1 km x 1 km created with the remote sensing data and GIS methods were spatially interpolated to a fine pixel size of 30 m x 30 m, which were combined with the early warning method (using classification tree method) to evaluate the land ecological security of Caofeidian in 2005 and 2013.

Taking non-transgenic parental rice as the control, and by using 13C pulse-chase labeling method coupled with phospholipid fatty acid (PLFA) analysis, this paper studied the effects of transgenic Bt rice on the microbial diversity in rhizosphere soil. The results showed that in the rhizosphere soils of transgenic Bt rice and its non-transgenic parent, saturated PLFAs and branched PLFAs were the main, followed by monounsaturated PLFAs, and polyunsaturated PLFAs. A significantly lower amount of Gram-positive bacterial PLFAs and a higher amount of Gram-negative bacterial PLFAs were observed in the rhizosphere soil of transgenic Bt rice at its seedling, booting, and heading stages, as compared with the control.

A detailed study on the time-dependent organization of a decanethiol self-assembled monolayer (SAM) at a designed solution concentration onto a Au(111) surface has been performed with scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). The SAMs were prepared by immersing Au(111) into an ethanol solution containing 1 microM decanethiol with different immersion times. STM images revealed the formation process and adlayer structure of the SAMs.
