The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) immediate intervention training on the countermovement jump (CMJ) height and to explore kinematic differences in the CMJ at each instant. A total of 15 male students who had never received electrical stimulation were randomly selected as the research participants. In the first test, the CMJ performance was completed with an all-out effort.

Efficient method for whole-breast irradiation therapy using Halcyon linear accelerators.

Background: The Halcyon is a linear accelerator-based treatment machine designed for a high-throughput simplified workflow. The machine features a compact jawless design, dual-layer multileaf collimators, and a single 6-MV flattening filter-free (FFF) beam. However, the machine's 6-MV FFF beam may restrict its applicability to conventional techniques, such as field-in-field (FiF) radiotherapy, for breast cancer treatment.

To investigate the protective effects of gliclazide on myocardium of diabetic rats and its possible mechanisms. Sixty healthy SD rats were randomly divided into two groups: normal group (NC, =10) and model group (=50). Rats in model group were fed with high glucose and high fat diet for 4 weeks and then intraperitoneally injected with STZ (45 mg/kg) to establish a diabetic model and randomly selected FBG ≥ 16.

Ionothermal synthesis of octahedral lanthanoid coordination networks exhibiting slow magnetization relaxation and efficient photoluminescence.

An ionothermal reaction of lanthanoid salts with tetraethyl-p-xylenediphosphonate (tepxdp) in ionic liquids, such as choline chloride and malonic acid, resulted in the formation of three novel lanthanoid-organic coordination networks with the formula [Ln(H2pxdp)1.5]n {Ln = Tb (1), Dy (2) and Ho(3) and H4pxdp = p-xylenediphosphonic acid}. The structures, photoluminescence and magnetic properties of the three compounds were investigated in detail.

Spinal intracellular metabotropic glutamate receptor 5 (mGluR5) contributes to pain and c-fos expression in a rat model of inflammatory pain.

Metabotropic glutamate receptor 5 (mGluR5) is an excitatory G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) present in the spinal cord dorsal horn (SCDH) where it has a well-established role in pain. In addition to its traditional location on the cytoplasmic membrane, recent evidence shows that these receptors are present intracellularly on the nuclear membrane in the spinal cord dorsal horn and are implicated in neuropathic pain. Nuclear mGluR5 is a functional receptor that binds glutamate entering the cell through the neuronal glutamate transporter (GT) EAAT3 and activates transcription factor c-fos, whereas plasma membrane mGluR5 is responsible for c-jun activation.

A promising randomized trial of a new therapy for obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Pharmacotherapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) are currently the most effective interventions for treating obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). These treatments, however, are time consuming and in some cases the patients do not show significant improvement. In all, 30%-60% of OCD patients do not respond adequately to pharmacotherapy and 20%-40% of OCD patients who complete CBT do not improve significantly, suggesting a more efficacious approach is needed.

Reconstructing 3D Face Model with Associated Expression Deformation from a Single Face Image via Constructing a Low-Dimensional Expression Deformation Manifold.

Facial expression modeling is central to facial expression recognition and expression synthesis for facial animation. In this work, we propose a manifold-based 3D face reconstruction approach to estimating the 3D face model and the associated expression deformation from a single face image. With the proposed robust weighted feature map (RWF), we can obtain the dense correspondences between 3D face models and build a nonlinear 3D expression manifold from a large set of 3D facial expression models.

Compressibility-aware media retargeting with structure preserving.

A number of algorithms have been proposed for intelligent image/video retargeting with image content retained as much as possible. However, they usually suffer from some artifacts in the results, such as ridge or structure twist. In this paper, we present a structure-preserving media retargeting technique that preserves the content and image structure as best as possible.

Objective: To make multi-central clinical valuation of SHAO's "five needling methods" for treatment of asthma of deficiency of lung and spleen.

Methods: Two hundred and ten cases were randomly divided into a test group and a control group, 105 cases in each group. The test group were treated with SHAO's "five needling methods", with Feishu (BL 13), Dazhui (GV 14), Fengmen (BL 12) selected; the control group were treated with routine needling method, with Dingchuan (EX-B 1), Gaohuang (BL 43), Feishu (BL 13), Taiyuan (LU 9), Pishu (BL 20), etc.
