Stereo- and Regioselective Installation of Vinyl Sulfonyl Fluoride onto Indoles without Transition-Metal Catalyst.

Herein, we developed a practical method for synthesizing a class of novel and highly valuable indolyl vinyl sulfonyl fluorides. This protocol has carved out a path for constructing a broad range of vinyl sulfonyl fluorinated indoles with exclusive stereo- and regioselectivity through the Friedel-Crafts/elimination reaction without any transition-metal catalyst. This transformation features mild conditions, high efficiency, excellent selectivity, and rich substrate compatibility, highlighting its significant value in medicinal chemistry and many related disciplines.

Enhanced acupuncture therapy for radiotherapy-related neuropathic pain in patients with gynecologic cancer: a report of two cases and brief review.

As radiation therapy is increasingly utilized in the treatment of cancer, neuropathic pain (NP) is a common radiotherapy-related adverse effect and has a significant impact on clinical outcomes negatively. However, despite an improved understanding of neuropathic pain management, pain is often undertreated in patients with cancer. Herein, we reported two cases with radiotherapy-related neuropathic pain (RRNP) who presented a positive reaction to acupuncture.

Background: Limited data exist on transfusion burden and transfusion-related iron overload in adult survivors of solid malignancies.

Methods: Hospital-specific cancer registry data of patients with solid tumor receiving systemic anticancer treatment between January 2008 and September 2009 at the Oncology Department of the Leiden University Medical Center (The Netherlands) were retrieved and cross-referenced with red blood cell (RBC) transfusion records. Individual lifetime transfusion burden was captured in April 2015.
