Article Synopsis
  • Methylimidazole compounds, byproducts of caramel coloring, are used in cosmetics, but illegal use of metronidazole can lead to carcinogenic residues like 2-MEI and 4-MEI.
  • The study developed a high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS) method to analyze 1-MEI, 2-MEI, and 4-MEI in cosmetics effectively.
  • The method involved sample extraction, purification, and quantification, showing strong linear relationships for the target compounds, indicating its reliability and accuracy for screening cosmetics.

Article Synopsis
  • Yolk sac tumors in adults are extremely rare, with only six documented cases in the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses, often linked to other cancers.
  • A case study of a 55-year-old man showed a nasal tumor with characteristics of pure YST, but further testing revealed a diagnosis of INI-1-deficient carcinoma with YST features.
  • The patient had surgery and radiotherapy, displaying no signs of recurrence at the 6-month follow-up, highlighting the diagnostic complexity of similar tumors in adults.

One new pyridine-3,4-dicarboxylhydrazidate-coordinated compound [Zn(pdh)] 1 (pdh = pyridine-3,4-dicarboxylhydrazidate) was obtained under the hydrothermal conditions. Noteworthily, the pdh molecules in the title compound originated from the ligand in situ reaction between organic pyridine-3,4-dicarboxylic acid (pdca) and NH·HO. X-ray single-crystal diffraction analysis revealed that the pdh ligands exhibit a special μ-bridging mode in compound 1, which link Zn(II) centers into a 2D layered structure.
