Article Synopsis
  • This study investigated the relationship between specific genetic variations (SNPs) in the gene associated with the PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway and the risk of tuberculosis (TB) within the Han population of China, particularly focusing on how these variations interact with tea drinking habits.
  • Researchers analyzed data from 503 TB patients and 494 healthy controls, examining five SNPs to assess their connection to TB susceptibility and used statistical models to assess the impact of tea consumption.
  • The findings revealed that four of the SNPs were significantly associated with increased TB risk, suggesting that genetic factors and tea drinking may influence susceptibility to the disease.

Background And Aim: Various all-oral direct-acting antiviral (DAA) regimens are being widely used in the treatment of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)/hepatitis C virus (HCV) co-infected patients; however, the comparative efficacy and safety of different types and combinations of DAAs are not completely clear. There is still a lack of integration of evidence for optimized therapies for HIV/HCV co-infection.

Methods: We conducted a systematic literature search in several databases up to January 1, 2020.

Molecular markers are playing an increasingly important role in map construction, QTL analysis, gene mapping and marker-assisted selection. Researchers hope the target gene and locus are as close as possible, one locus can present one gene, or linked with some important trait, then, individuals with useful trait can be selected through molecular markers selecting, and it's the functional molecular marker. PCR-based molecular markers such as RAPD, SSR, AFLP amplified non-coding regions, or the whole genome randomly, the locus is far away from the gene of targeted trait, this limit the ap-plication of these molecular markers.
