Article Synopsis
  • Chemotherapy can lead to cognitive impairment in breast cancer patients, and recent studies are focusing on how tumor features, particularly HER2 status, influence these cognitive effects.
  • In a study involving 52 patients, those with HER2-positive tumors showed more significant attention and processing speed deficits before chemotherapy, and after treatment, they particularly declined in attention, executive functions, and verbal memory.
  • The results suggest that HER2 overexpression might be a crucial factor in understanding the varied cognitive outcomes in breast cancer survivors, indicating a need for further research on this topic.
