Fascin Inhibitor NP-G2-044 Decreases Cell Metastasis and Increases Overall Survival of Mice-Bearing Lung Cancers.

Aim: Fascin is an actin-binding protein that promotes tumor metastasis. The inhibition of fascin on the progress of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is not very clear. Hence, this study explored the potential effect of NP-G2-044, a novel fascin inhibitor, in human NSCLC lines and the Lewis lung cancer (LCC) mice model.

Interferon-Gamma Release Assay is Not Appropriate for the Diagnosis of Active Tuberculosis in High-Burden Tuberculosis Settings: A Retrospective Multicenter Investigation.

Background: Interferon-gamma release assay (IGRA) has been used in latent tuberculosis (TB) infection and TB diagnosis, but the results from different high TB-endemic countries are different. The aim of this study was to investigate the value of IGRA in the diagnosis of active pulmonary TB (PTB) in China.

Methods: We conducted a large-scale retrospective multicenter investigation to further evaluate the role of IGRA in the diagnosis of active PTB in high TB-epidemic populations and the factors affecting the performance of the assay.

Toll-like receptors (TLRs) and cytokines play key roles in innate and adaptive immunity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M.TB). The aim of this study was to investigate whether the functional genetic variations at position 1805 G/T in TLR1, 2258 A/G in TLR2, -857 C/T, and -863 A/C in tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), as well as -819 C/T in interleukin-10 (IL-10) confer susceptibility to pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB).
