Analysis of biogenic amines (BAs) is of great importance due to their toxicity and usage as indicators of food freshness. In this study, membrane-assisted three-phase liquid-liquid extraction (MA-3pLLE) was proposed to integrate extraction and back-extraction into a single step using a specially designed U-shaped device. Parameters affecting the performance of the extraction method were optimized.

As zwitterionic polymers show great promise in drug delivery, hyaluronic acid (HA) was deacetylated and grafted with dodecylamine to prepare a pH-sensitive zwitterionic polymer dHAD used as a carrier for antitumor drugs. The polymer was negatively charged at pH 7.4 and became positive at pH 6.

In our previous Letter, we have carried out the synthesis of a novel DDCTMA cationic lipid which was formulated with DOPE for gene delivery. Herein, we used folic acid (FA) as targeting ligand and cholesterol (Chol) as helper lipid instead of DOPE for enhancing the stability of the liposomes. These liposomes were characterized by dynamic laser scattering (DLS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and agarose gel electrophoresis assays of pDNA binding affinity.

To obtain efficient non-viral vectors, a series of Gemini cationic lipids with carbamate linkers between headgroups and hydrophobic tails were synthesized. They have the hydrocarbon chains of 12, 14, 16 and 18 carbon atoms as tails, designated as G12, G14, G16 and G18, respectively. These Gemini cationic lipids were prepared into cationic liposomes for the study of the physicochemical properties and gene delivery.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examined the effectiveness of two gene transfer reagents, Lipofectamine 2000 and DOTAP, in transfecting three different cell types: Hep-2, MCF-7, and SW-480.
  • Results showed that Lipofectamine 2000 generally performed better across all cell lines, while DOTAP was particularly effective with Hep-2 cells but less so with MCF-7 and SW-480.
  • Both reagents maintained high cell viability (over 85%) in MCF-7 cells, indicating their potential for safe application, although Lipofectamine 2000 demonstrated broader transfection efficiency overall.

Objective: To investigate the apoptosis and proliferation activity of Tca8113 cells.

Methods: The vector that involves short hairpin RNA of iNOS was transfected to Tca8113 cells. The change of iNOS expression was observed using immunohistochemistry technique, the apoptosis rate examined by flow cytometry, and the proliferation Tca8113 cells examined by methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium (MTT).
