Bagaza virus (BAGV) is a mosquito-borne flavivirus and has caused significant avian death in many regions, and also garnered recognition as a significant human pathogen causing diseases like encephalitis. The genome of BAGV encodes ten proteins including three structural proteins and seven nonstructural proteins. The C-terminus of the BAGV NS3 helicase serves as a helicase during BAGV replication, aiding in ATP hydrolysis and unwinding of double-stranded RNA.

Methods: We conducted a cohort study among 1914 healthy primary school children from October 2018 to November 2019 in Beijing, China.
Nutritional status significantly impacts linear bone growth. We aimed to determine the relationship between the trajectories of four body composition indicators and pubertal advanced bone age. Trajectories of body mass index z-score (BMI z-score), visceral fat area z-score (VFA z-score), fat mass index z-score (FMI z-score), and fat-free mass index z-score (FFMI z-score) were identified based on three body composition measurements conducted from October 2018 to April 2023 within a pediatric cohort (the PROC study).

This study aimed to examine age-specific temporal trends in mortality for cervical and breast cancers in urban and rural areas of China from 2009 to 2021.
Methods: Age-specific mortality data for cervical and breast cancers among Chinese women aged 20-84 years were obtained from China's National Disease Surveillance Points system spanning the years 2009 to 2021.

Wearing custom-made foot orthosis is considered a desirable option; however, there is limited evidence of its effectiveness. This study aims to report the mid-term effect of foot orthosis for symptomatic pediatric ANBs.

However, the mechanism behind SCVs formation remains poorly understood. In this study, we explored the phenotype and omics-based characterization of S.

() persistence in macrophages, potentially a reservoir for recurrence of chronic osteomyelitis, contributes to resistance and failure in treatment. As the mechanisms underlying survival of in macrophages remain largely unknown, there has been no treatment approved. Here, in a mouse model of osteomyelitis, we identified significantly up-regulated expression of SLC7A11 in both transcriptomes and translatomes of CD11bF4/80 macrophages, and validated a predominant distribution of SLC7A11 in F4/80 cells around the abscess.

However, whether the bone-brain axis participates in this pathological process remains unknown. Here, we report that platelet-derived growth factor-BB (PDGF-BB) secretion by preosteoclasts in the bone accelerates neuroinflammation.

Background: Pathogenic variants of the IRF2BPL gene have been reported to cause neurodevelopmental disorders; however, studies focused on IRF2BPL in zebrafish are limited.
Results: We reported three probands diagnosed with developmental delay and epilepsy and investigated the role of IRF2BPL in neurodevelopmental disorders in zebrafish. The clinical and genetic characteristics of three patients with neurodevelopmental disorder with regression, abnormal movements, loss of speech and seizures (NEDAMSS) were collected.
Objective: This study aimed to analyze the growth patterns of height and foot length (FL) among Chinese children aged 3-18 and examine their associations with puberty development.
Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted in September 2022 in Beijing. Data were collected through questionnaires and on-site physical examinations.

Background: Megalencephalic leukoencephalopathy with subcortical cysts (MLC) is a rare, inherited disorder that causes epilepsy, intellectual disorders, and early onset macrocephaly. MLC1 has been identified as a main pathogenic gene.
Methods: Clinical data such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), routine blood tests, and physical examinations were collected from proband.
Background: Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), including childhood maltreatment, have been linked with increased risk of diabetes and obesity during adulthood. A comprehensive assessment on the associations between childhood maltreatment and all major endocrine diseases, as well as the relative importance of different proposed mechanistic pathways on these associations, is currently lacking.
Methods: Based on the UK Biobank, we constructed a cohort including 151,659 participants with self-reported data on childhood maltreatment who were 30 years of age or older on/after January 1, 1985.
The capability to gather heterogeneous data, alongside the increasing power of artificial intelligence to examine it, leading a revolution in harnessing multimodal data in the life sciences. However, most approaches are limited to unimodal data, leaving integrated approaches across modalities relatively underdeveloped in computational pathology. Pathogenomics, as an invasive method to integrate advanced molecular diagnostics from genomic data, morphological information from histopathological imaging, and codified clinical data enable the discovery of new multimodal cancer biomarkers to propel the field of precision oncology in the coming decade.

Under homeostasis, gut motility is regulated by the neurons of the enteric nervous system that control contractile/relaxation activity of muscle cells in the gut wall. More recently, studies of gut inflammation revealed interactions of macrophages with enteric neurons are also involved in modulating gut motility.
