Background: Treatments are limited for patients with relapsed/refractory Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), and their survival rate is low. Prediction of the recurrence hazard for each patient could provide a reference regarding chemotherapy regimens for clinicians to extend patients' period of long-term remission. As current strategies cannot satisfy such need, we have established predictive models to classify patients with DLBCL with complete remission who had recurrences in 2 years from ones who did not.

Many phylogeographic studies on marine organisms in the Northwestern Pacific have supported for the biogeographic hypotheses that isolation in the marginal seas of this region during the Pleistocene glaciation lower sea level led to population genetic divergence, and thus population expansion was a common phenomenon when the sea level rebounded. However, most of these studies were based on maternally inherited mitochondrial DNA markers with limited sample sites and therefore, were unable to reveal detailed pictures encompassing paternal line information covering of the entire range. In this study, we used the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) and nine nuclear microsatellite loci to investigate the phylogeography of the mud snail, (Philippi, 1849), a species endemic to the Northwestern Pacific.

Purpose: Obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) is associated with neurocognitive impairment. We examined the role of the systemic inflammatory response, measured by high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) assay, and the effect of CPAP treatment on hsCRP and cognitive impairment in patients with OSAHS.

Aim: To probe the related proteins to stress-induced myocardium injury.

Methods: After establishment of a myocardium injury model induced by restraint stress in rats, myocardium proteins of restraint stress-treated and untreated rats were extracted, and the two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (2-DE) maps of the extracted proteins were established by using the immobilized pH gradient (IPG) and SDS-PAGE two-dimensional electrophoresis respectively. The alterative protein spots were analyzed by Image Master 3.

To investigate the effect of stress on homocysteine metabolism in the rat and explore the mechanism as well as the key regulatory link of stress-induced hyperhomocysteinemia, male Wistar rats were treated with restraint stress while control rats received routine treatment. By HPLC-fluorometry, the homocysteine level in rat plasma was determined. Cystathionine beta-synthase (CBS) activity in blood, heart, liver and kidney was measured by radioisotope assay using [(14)C]-serine as the labeled substrate.

Objective: To investigate the optimal time of termination of pregnancy for patients with hemolysis elevated liver enzymes and low platelet (HELLP) syndrome.

Methods: 57 patients with HELLP syndrome admitted from October 1992 to September 2001 were enrolled. According to the length from the time diagnoses confirmed to the time of delivery, patients were divided into 3 groups; group I, within 24 hours, group II, 24 to 48 hours and group III, over 48 hours.

Aim: To observe the injured effect of homocysteine (HCY) on cardiomyocytes and investigate its signal transduction mechanism as well as the key regulatory link.

Methods: Cardiomyocytes were isolated from neonatal Wistar rats. After incubation with HCY, the survival rate of cardiomyocytes was determined by trypan blue stained assay, while the apoptosis rate was measured by TUNEL and FCM.
