A toddler presented to audiovestibular medicine with mild bilateral, sensorineural hearing loss identified via the Newborn Hearing Screening Programme. This report focuses on the early clinical assessment and aetiological investigation which prompted testing for metabolic disease and highlights the parents' perspective. Early investigation led to a relatively early diagnosis of mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS) type IIIA: Sanfilippo disease which enabled the family to access a novel treatment option which otherwise would not have been possible.

Burnout, motivation and job satisfaction among community health workers recruited for a depression training in Madhya Pradesh, India: a cross-sectional study.

Introduction: Burnout, low motivation, and poor job satisfaction among community health workers (CHWs) have negative impacts on health workers and on patients. This study aimed to characterize levels of burnout, motivation, and job satisfaction in CHWs in Madhya Pradesh, India and to determine the relation between these levels and participant characteristics. This study can inform efforts to promote wellbeing and address stress in this population.

Seropositivity and coinfection of hepatitis B and hepatitis C viruses in Central India: A hospital-based study.

Background: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) and Hepatitis C virus (HCV) show similarity in the transmission, distribution, hepatotropism, and leading to chronic asymptomatic infection. Coinfection of HBV and HCV can lead to more severe liver disease and an increased risk for progression to hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Most of the people with chronic infection are unaware of their HBV and HCV infections, hence facilitating these to go undiagnosed until these viruses have caused serious liver damage and they act as a potential source of infection for the community at large.

Purpose: Meningiomas are central nervous system tumors whose incidence increases with age. Benign meningioma pathogenesis involves germline or somatic mutation of target genes, such as NF2, leading to clonal expansion. We used an established cancer epidemiology model to investigate the number of rate-limiting steps sufficient for benign meningioma development.

A character-strengths based coaching intervention to improve wellbeing of rural community health workers in Madhya Pradesh, India: Protocol for a single-blind randomized controlled trial.

Background: There is scarce knowledge on the use of structured positive psychology interventions for reducing work-stress and improving wellbeing of rural community health workers in India, particularly the Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) who are village-level (resident women, incentivised) lay health workers. This trial will test the effectiveness of a 'character-strengths' based coaching intervention compared to routine supervision on wellbeing ('authentic happiness') of ASHAs.

Methods: This protocol is for a single-blind, parallel group randomized controlled trial comparing the effectiveness of a five-day residential workshop focusing on the use of character-strengths and subsequent 8- to 10-week remote telephonic coaching (weekly) to individually support ASHAs to improve their wellbeing, against routine health system support.

Grafting platelets from an individual's blood was developed to overcome the esthetic requirements and speed up healing. Advanced platelet-rich fibrin (APRF) and concentrated growth factor (CGF) are used for good healing.

Dietary patterns and risk of oral and oropharyngeal cancers: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Systematic evaluation of evidence assessing the role of dietary patterns on oral and oropharyngeal (OOP) cancer risk can provide a better understanding of their relationship. This systematic review of observational studies aimed to integrate the most recent evidence on the relationship between posteriori and priori dietary patterns and risk of development of OOP cancers. Studies were retrieved from Embase, PubMed, and Web of Science, and a total of 22 publications were included in the systematic review, of which 17 were included in the meta-analysis.

Advanced neuroimaging of the trigeminal nerve and the whole brain in trigeminal neuralgia: a systematic review.

For trigeminal neuralgia (TN), a major role of imaging is to identify the causes, but recent studies demonstrated structural and microstructural changes in the affected nerve. Moreover, an increasing number of studies have reported central nervous system involvement in TN. In this systematic review, recent quantitative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) studies of the trigeminal nerve and the brain in patients with TN were compiled, organized, and discussed, particularly emphasizing the possible background mechanisms and the interpretation of the results.

Impact of reflection writing on the learning ability of Indian medical students.

Reflective writing develops meta-cognition among students. Therefore, it is of interest to compare effectiveness of post lecture reflective writing to didactic lecture between individual and group reflective writing. Hence, we included 124 first-year students from AIIMS Bhopal, India and divided them in two groups of 62 students.

Background: The subspecialized, clinically complex nature of neurosurgery should not result in marginalization or under-representation of neurosurgical scientific output. This study aims to provide an overview of the trends of neurosurgical publications in high-impact medical journals during the past 3 decades.

Methods: An electronic database search was performed to identify all articles affiliated with neurosurgery departments published in 10 highly regarded medical journals.

We present a unique case of GOO in a 14-year-old girl resulting from the accumulation of plastic materials, known as a plastic bezoar, due to pica behavior.
