Background: The role of repeat transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT) for the management of nonmuscle invasive bladder carcinoma is debated, especially when initial resections include detrusor muscle. This study compares immediate second resection (additional deep biopsies in the same session) with standard restage TURBT performed 2-6 weeks post-initial TURBT to determine adequacy in detrusor muscle sampling and compare the disease rate at restage TURBT in both groups.

Material And Methods: A randomized trial was conducted at a tertiary care hospital, including patients aged ≥18 years undergoing TURBT with complete primary tumor resection.

A 19-year-old female presented with left flank discomfort and swelling. Imaging revealed a large mass arising from the left kidney, and radical nephrectomy confirmed the diagnosis of alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) based on histopathological and ultrastructural examination. Postoperatively, positron emission tomography-computerized tomography showed lung metastasis and renal bed recurrence.

Introduction Partial nephrectomy (PN) is the current standard of care for patients with T1 renal tumors, and there has been a shift from an open and laparoscopic to a robot-assisted approach. The definition of the learning curve for robot-assisted PN (RAPN) is unclear, and various studies have identified warm ischemia time (WIT), perioperative complications, and surgical margins as the defining parameters for the assessment of improvement in these outcomes over time. The objective of this study was to evaluate the learning curve of a newly trained urologist for RAPN when comparing both open and laparoscopic approaches.

Introduction: Antibiotic use during endourological procedures is often discordant from the reported guidelines, despite the potential risks of antibiotic resistance, adverse effects, and health-care costs. A nationwide audit was conducted, with the support of the Urological Society of India, to ascertain the current antibiotic prescription practices for the endourological procedures and the reasons associated with them.

Methods: A multi-institutional, national-level, cross-sectional audit analyzing elective endourological procedures was performed.

Background/purpose: To compare the changes in hepatic enzymes and comfort level of the surgeon in low-pressure pneumoperitoneum laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LPPLC, 7 mm Hg) with that of normal pressure pneumoperitoneum laparoscopic cholecystectomy (NPPLC, 14 mm Hg).

Methods: Eighty-two patients were randomly divided into 2 groups (LPPLC and NPPLC). Serum levels of bilirubin, serum glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase, serum glutamic-pyruvic transaminase, alkaline phosphatase, and lactate dehydrogenase were measured before the operation, at the time of reversal from anesthesia, 24 hours after the operation, and on day 7.
