Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates how different wavelengths of lasers (980 nm and 810 nm) affect the healing of hard tissue in rat alveolar sockets after dental extractions.
  • Thirty-six male Wistar rats underwent molar extractions, with one side treated with laser therapy while the other side was a control, and various analyses were conducted on specific days post-treatment.
  • Results showed that both laser treatments enhanced hard tissue regeneration and osteogenic gene expression, with the 980 nm laser demonstrating superior effects in certain gene expressions compared to the 810 nm laser, although no significant differences in overall bone density or volume were observed.

Objectives: Despite being an important research topic in oral biomaterials, few studies have demonstrated the differences between poly(d,l-lactide-co-glycolide)/hydroxyapatite (PLGA/HA) and poly(d,l-lactic acid)/hydroxyapatite (PDLLA/HA). In this study, PLGA/HA and PDLLA/HA scaffolds were prepared using three-dimensional (3D) printing technology and implanted into radius defects in rabbits to assess their effects on bone regeneration.

Methods: In this study, 6 mm × 4 mm bone defects were generated in the bilateral radii of rabbits.

Article Synopsis
  • This study evaluated the impact of 3D-printed poly-d,l-lactin (PDLLA) on the growth and bone-forming capabilities of human alveolar bone-derived mesenchymal stem cells (h-ABMSCs).
  • The researchers confirmed that h-ABMSCs were successfully cultured and identified through various analyses, revealing their characteristic cell shape and surface markers.
  • Results indicated that PDLLA was non-toxic and supported normal cell growth and osteogenic differentiation, showing no significant differences in key gene expressions related to bone formation compared to the control group, highlighting its compatibility and potential for use in biomedical applications.
