Background: COVID-19-associated pulmonary fibrosis remains frequent. This study aimed to investigate pulmonary redox balance in COVID-19 ARDS patients and possible relationship with pulmonary fibrosis and long-term lung abnormalities.

Methods: Baseline data, chest CT fibrosis scores, N-terminal peptide of alveolar collagen III (NT-PCP-III), transforming growth factor (TGF)-β1, superoxide dismutase (SOD), reduced glutathione (GSH), oxidized glutathione (GSSG) and malondialdehyde (MDA) in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) were first collected and compared between SARS-CoV-2 RNA positive patients with moderate to severe ARDS (n = 65, COVID-19 ARDS) and SARS-CoV-2 RNA negative non-ARDS patients requiring mechanical ventilation (n = 63, non-ARDS).

In the present study, the cuticular wax morphology, composition and the relationship with storage quality in three plum cultivars of 'Kongxin' (KXL), 'Fengtang' (FTL) and 'Cuihong' (CHL) were investigated during storage at room temperature of 25 ± 1 °C. The results illustrated that the highest cuticular wax concentration was discovered in KXL, followed by FTL and the lowest in CHL. The fruit wax composition of the three plum cultivars was similar and principally composed of alkanes, alcohols, fatty acids, ketones, aldehydes, esters, triterpenes and olefins.

is the source of the deadly kiwifruit disease known as soft rot. In order to explore the role of melatonin in regulating the postharvest quality and disease resistance of kiwifruit at different growth and development stages, in this study, we applied melatonin at different concentrations to kiwifruit at the young fruit, expansion, and late expansion stages to assess its effect on fruit resistance to , minimize soft rot, and maintain postharvest fruit quality. The results showed that melatonin significantly suppressed the mycelial growth of , with 1.

Cuticular wax is an essential barrier against biological and abiotic stress and is also an important factor affecting fruit storage quality. This paper investigated the effect of melatonin treatment on cuticular wax and the storage quality of plum fruit at low temperature storage of 4 ± 1 °C. 'Kongxin' plum was treated with 150 μmol·L melatonin, dried overnight at room temperature 25 ± 1 °C, and then stored at 4 ± 1 °C for 40 d.

Plums are one of the most popular stone fruits worldwide owing to their high nutritional value. After harvest, plum fruit quality and flavor change during storage; however, little is known about the changes in metabolites during this period. A comprehensive comparison of primary metabolites in 'Fengtang' plum fruits during storage is performed using widely targeted primary metabolomics.

Fresh-cut (FC) apple, avocado and tomato fruits were examined to determine if sorption dynamics previously reported for FC apple were of general occurrence for other fruits. Fresh-cut apple consumed headspace 1-MCP at high rates, fully depleting 1-MCP in 1.5 h.
