Introducing quantum confinement has shown promise to enable control of charge carriers. Although recent advances make it possible to realize confinement from semiclassical regime to quantum regime, achieving control of electronic potentials in individual nanoscale quantum dots (QDs) has remained challenging. Here, we demonstrate the ability to tune quantum confined states in individual nanoscale graphene QDs, which are realized by inserting nanoscale monolayer WSe islands in graphene/WSe heterostructures via interfacial engineering.

GaN-based micro-light-emitting diodes (Micro-LEDs) are regarded as promising light sources for near-eye-display applications such as augmented reality/virtual reality (AR/VR) displays due to their high resolution, high brightness, and low power consumption. However, the application of Micro-LEDs in high-pixel-per-inch (PPI) displays is constrained by the drop in efficiency caused by sidewall defects in small-sized devices. In this study, a process method involving NH plasma pretreatment to reduce sidewall defects is proposed and investigated for enhancing the external quantum efficiency (EQE) of small-sized devices.

Article Synopsis
  • Despite advancements in perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs), maintaining high stability is still a significant issue due to heat production during operation, which accelerates device wear.
  • Current methods like infrared thermal imaging (ITI) primarily measure the temperature of the device's surface, leaving the internal temperature of the perovskite layer unexplored.
  • This research introduces an electroluminescence (EL) analysis technique, which allows real-time tracking of the perovskite layer's temperature, providing a straightforward and effective approach to assess the temperature of PeLEDs while they are in use.
