MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have important roles in many cellular processes, including cell proliferation, growth and development, and disease control. Previous study demonstrated that the expression of two highly homologous miRNAs (miR-192 and miR-215) was up-regulated in weaned piglets with F18 infection. However, the potential molecular mechanism of miR-192 in regulating infection remains unclear in pigs.

Bactericidal/permeability-increasing (BPI) protein is a member of a new generation of proteins known as super-antibiotics that are implicated as endotoxin neutralising agents. Non-uniform usage of synonymous codons for a specific amino acid during translation of a protein is known as codon usage bias (CUB). Analysis of CUB and compositional dynamics of coding sequences could contribute to a better understanding of the molecular mechanism and the evolution of a particular gene.
