Anoxia-induced mitophagy in the yeast Kluyveromyces marxianus.

Kluyveromyces marxianus is a thermotolerant, ethanol-producing yeast that requires oxygen for efficient ethanol fermentation. Under anaerobic conditions, glucose consumption and ethanol production are retarded, suggesting that oxygen affects the metabolic state of K. marxianus.
