Objectives: To (1) assess perceptions of parents of patients ages 9-17 years regarding human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine counseling and a same-day HPV vaccine program, and (2) assess perceptions among dental staff who actively participated in the same administration program.
Methods: We conducted a post-evaluation, convenience survey of parents of patients aged 9-17 and dental staff at a large-urban federally qualified healthcare center (FQHC) from July 25, 2022, to August 26, 2022. Parent and staff perceptions were assessed using validated instruments whenever possible.
Agriculture is one of the most precarious professions, being vulnerable to weather extremes and animal disease. As crises hit the agricultural sector, a growing awareness and concern for the mental wellbeing of farmers developed. Economic decline, climate change and culling animals all have a profound impact on affected farmers.

Nanoparticles prepared from plasmid DNA (pDNA) and N,N-bis(dimethylhexadecyl)-1,3-propanediammonium bromide (16-3-16) have been mixed with various Pluronic block copolymers and investigated as binary surfactant systems in water using the previously demonstrated critical aggregation concentration of the surfactant-DNA complex. Surface tensiometry was used to determine critical micelle concentrations of mixed micelles formed within these Pluronic/16-3-16/pDNA mixtures. Use of mixed micelle theories reveals that mixed micelle composition and the interaction parameter, β, are influenced by the structure, in particular hydrophobicity, of the Pluronic component.

From the experimental and the estimated ideal micelle formation enthalpies, the excess enthalpies were obtained. The degrees of nonideality of the interaction in the mixed micelle ( ) from our previous work was used along with the excess enthalpy values to determine excess thermodynamic quantities of the surfactants in the mixed system according to Regular Solution Theory (RST) and Motomura's theory.

This surfactant-DNA complex acts as an amphiphile itself, for example, decreasing the surface tension of water until a critical concentration is reached. MDMA induces well-characterized changes in body temperature due to complex monoaminergic effects on central thermoregulation, peripheral blood flow and thermogenesis, but there are little preclinical data on the acute effects of mephedrone or other synthetic cathinones.
Experimental Approach: The acute effects of cathinone, methcathinone and mephedrone on rectal and tail temperature were examined in individually housed rats, with MDMA included for comparison.
3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) induces both acute adverse effects and long-term neurotoxic loss of brain 5-HT neurones in laboratory animals. However, when choosing doses, most preclinical studies have paid little attention to the pharmacokinetics of the drug in humans or animals. The recreational use of MDMA and current clinical investigations of the drug for therapeutic purposes demand better translational pharmacology to allow accurate risk assessment of its ability to induce adverse events.
