Background: Although glycated hemoglobin A1C (HbA1c) has classically been used for glycemic control screening before surgery, fructosamine, a short-term glucose variability indicator, has been reported to be a more accurate predictor of postoperative periprosthetic joint infection among patients with diabetes mellitus (DM). Given the variability of diabetic medication management, this study aims to identify the associated effect of glycemic control medication regimen (GCMR) on the incidence rate and associated odds of abnormal preoperative fructosamine levels among diabetic primary total knee arthroplasty or total hip arthroplasty patients.
Methods: Between 2017 and 2018, consecutive series of total hip arthroplasty and total knee arthroplasty patients were identified, and the final cohort included only diabetic patients.
Purpose: To assess the current scientific literature on the microbiome's relation with knee osteoarthritis (OA), with specific focuses on the gut microbiome-joint axis and joint microbiome-joint axis.
Methods: A systematic review was conducted following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses guidelines; the PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane databases were searched for relevant English-language clinical studies on the gut and/or joint microbiomes' association with knee OA in humans. Bias was evaluated using the Methodological Index for Non-randomized Studies score.
Case: We present an unusual case of bilateral femoral neck fatigue fractures in a 28-year-old pregnant woman at the 18th week of gestation successfully treated through operative intervention involving consecutive total hip arthroplasty and internal fixation within the same procedure, resulting in favorable clinical outcomes.
Conclusion: Current clinical practices suggest that a restricted use of plain radiographs, even those involving the pelvis in pregnant women carries a minimal risk to the fetus and is not contraindicated. Magnetic resonance imaging proved valuable for differential diagnosis, contrasting with sonography.
Background: Recent advances in high-throughput DNA sequencing technologies have made it possible to characterize the microbial profile in anatomical sites previously assumed to be sterile. We used this approach to explore the microbial composition within joints of osteoarthritic patients.

However, little is known about how often systemic sepsis may occur in patients with PJI, and whether sepsis is associated with a greater likelihood of persistent or recurrent PJI.
Questions/purposes: (1) Among patients who present with acute or acute hematogenous PJI and who were treated with debridement, antibiotics, and implant retention (DAIR), what proportion have sepsis and what factors are associated with a presentation with sepsis? (2) For patients presenting with sepsis, what factors are associated with persistent or recurrent PJI?
Methods: In all, 320 patients who underwent DAIR for the treatment of acute postoperative or acute hematogenous PJI between January 2000 and December 2019 were included in this study.
Background: This prospective study aimed to assess the reliability and validity of the Hebrew version of the forgotten joint score-12 in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty, because it is going to be used in the Hebrew-speaking populations in Israel.
Methods: The English version of forgotten joint score-12 was translated into Hebrew version by using the standard procedures and in collaboration with its authors. The consecutive patients who had undergone total knee arthroplasty in a single hospital were asked to fill out the Hebrew version of forgotten joint score-12, Oxford knee score, Short Form 12, and visual analog scale.
