Background: Endovascular treatment (EVT) is recommended for superficial femoral artery (SFA) lesions, and good results have been reported after implantation of drug-eluting stents (DES) for SFA. However, the major concern after implantation is acute thrombosis during the follow-up period, resulting in major amputation and major adverse limb events. In this study, we examined the incidence and outcome of acute thrombosis after DES implantation in the SFA.

Article Synopsis
  • Post-myocardial infarction ventricular septal perforation (VSP) is a rare but serious condition that can occur after a heart attack, complicating recovery with significant surgical risks.
  • A 65-year-old man experienced recurrent VSP despite previous surgical repair, with the first and second procedures utilizing the bovine double patch technique through different surgical approaches.
  • The case highlights the need for improved techniques and strategies in managing recurrent VSPs, emphasizing the importance of further research in this area.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examines the effectiveness of thromboendarterectomy (TEA) with bovine pericardium patch angioplasty in treating common femoral occlusive disease in patients over a 10-month period.
  • The study involved 47 procedures in 42 patients, primarily focusing on outcomes like primary patency and complications, with a high success rate in restoring blood flow and minimal adverse events.
  • Results showed 98% primary patency and 100% secondary patency at 12 months, indicating the procedure was safe and effective in improving symptoms like claudication and preventing amputations.

Purpose: To describe the efficiency of the candy-plug technique using an Excluder aortic extender and obtain optimal aortic remodeling.

Case: A 46-year-old male patient had a history of acute type B aortic dissection and progressive dilation of the descending aorta (53 mm diameter) with a patent false lumen. He was treated with the candy-plug technique, using an Excluder aortic extender of 32-45 mm was placed and a 16-mm Amplatzer Vascular Plug II.

We present a 76-year-old male with an aortic arch aneurysm and a hypoplastic left vertebral artery (VA). Endovascular repair with left subclavian artery (SCA) closure was planned. The right VA was dominant, while the left VA was hypoplastic, barely connected to the basilar artery, and appeared to terminate at the posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA).

: The purpose of this study is to investigate morphologic changes of the femoropopliteal arterial segment (FPAS) with knee flexion after endovascular therapy (EVT). : From July 2012 to January 2015, EVT was performed on 12 limbs in 12 consecutive patients who had obliterative lesions in the FPAS. After the implantation of nitinol stents, angiography was performed with the knee in both extension and flexion to investigate morphologic changes of the FPAS.
