- Portable navigation systems, like the NAVBIT which uses table tilt registration, can improve accuracy in cup alignment during total hip arthroplasty (THA).
- A study with 96 patients compared the accuracy of THA using NAVBIT in the lateral position (with the flip technique) versus a cup goniometer in supine or lateral positions.
- Results showed that the NAVBIT's alignment accuracy (average differences of 2.1° and 2.0°) was significantly better than the cup goniometer’s (average differences of 3.4° and 5.0°), with a higher percentage of cases within 5° of target angles.
