There is growing evidence suggesting an association between severe acute respiratory coronavirus syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection and various extrapulmonary diseases since the advent of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. However, case reports of fulminant type 1 diabetes mellitus (FT1D) following SARS-CoV-2 infection are limited. Background: Heterozygous loss-of-function mutations in the chromodomain helicase DNA-binding protein 7 (CHD7) gene cause CHARGE syndrome characterized by various congenital anomalies. A majority of patients with CHARGE syndrome present with congenital hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (HH), and combined pituitary hormone deficiency (CPHD) can also be present. Whereas CHD7 mutations have been identified in some patients with isolated HH without a diagnosis of CHARGE syndrome, it remains unclear whether CHD7 mutations can be identified in patients with CPHD who do not fulfill the criteria for CHARGE syndrome.

Exogenous insulin can induce insulin antibodies that have a low affinity/high binding capacity. Similar to what is observed in insulin autoimmune syndrome, these insulin antibodies can cause fasting hypoglycemia and postprandial hyperglycemia, a phenomenon known as "exogenous insulin antibody syndrome" (EIAS). There have been several clinical reports of transient postoperative hyperglycemia in patients with insulinoma, but the effect of insulinoma on normal β-cells has not been investigated. We examined the glucose transporter 2 (GLUT2) and glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor (GLP1R) expression in normal pancreatic β-cells of five patients with insulinoma and five patients with normal glucose tolerance (NGT) as controls. The positive rate of GLUT2-or GLP1R-positive islets in the nontumor area was calculated by the ratio with the analyzed islets.

Background: Coronary artery fistula (CAF) draining into the left ventricle (LV) is a rare condition and dilated cardiomyopathy (DCMP) that results from single coronary artery (SCA) accompanied by CAF also is extremely rare.

Case Report: We report the case of a 36-year-old man, who presented with severe DCMP that resulted from SCA with CAF draining into the LV. Transthoracic echocardiogram (TTE) showed severe diffuse hypokinesia of the LV with ejection fraction (EF) of 15-20%.

The receptors of peanut agglutinin (PNA), Dolichos biflorus agglutinin (DBA) and Ulex europaeus agglutinin I (UEA-I) were localized in intrahepatic cholangiocellular carcinoma, hepatocellular carcinoma, intrahepatic bile ducts and normal, cirrhotic and pericarcinomatous liver using the avidin-biotin-peroxidase complex method. It was found that epithelial cells of normal bile ducts had many UEA-I receptors, fewer DBA receptors and no PNA receptors. Partially purified Okinawan sugar cane wax and fatty alcohol were fed to Wistar strain rats to examine the effects on serum and liver cholesterol (Chol), triglyceride (TG) and phospholipid (PL).
