Diabetes is a disease characterized not only by a high blood glucose level but also by high ketone levels. Medium chain triacylglycerols (MCT) are known as functional lipids, but they are rapidly metabolized to produce ketone bodies. In this study, we examined the effects of MCT intake on the pathological condition and energy bioavailability of diabetic animals.
