Background: Differences in the quality of hospitals where Black and White patients receive coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery have been documented. We examined the contributions of physician networks to the gap.
Methods: This was a cross-sectional study of all Medicare fee-for-service Black and White patients undergoing elective CABG during 2017 to 2019; the primary care physicians and cardiologists treating them for 12 months before surgery (the patients' physician network); and CABG-performing hospitals within 100 miles of each patient.

Background: The run-in period is an important element of randomized controlled trials, and is often used in respiratory disease trials. The design of the run-in period can greatly impact results and data interpretation, and as such should be designed carefully.
Methods: In this review, we describe the design of run-in periods across six phase 3A trials of triple therapy in asthma, and discuss how differences in run-in period design (specifically the duration, treatment, and reporting of run-in results) may have the potential to alter the interpretation of study outcomes.
Background: Evidence is limited on insured patients' use of safety net providers as vertically integrated health systems spread throughout the United States.
Objectives: To examine whether market-level health system penetration is associated with: (1) switches in Medicare beneficiaries' usual source of primary care from federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) to health systems; and (2) FQHCs' overall Medicare patient and visit volume.
Research Design: Beneficiary-level discrete-time survival analysis and market-level linear regression analysis using Medicare fee-for-service claims data from 2013 to 2018.

In this work, the current density distribution during the anodization of ATNT arrays was optimized by adding polyethylene glycol-600 (PEG-600) to the conventional ethylene glycol-based electrolyte, which enhanced the dependence of the electronic current on the applied voltage, thus providing a stabilizing effect on anodization and improving the homogeneity of the pores on the surface of ATNT arrays. A new image processing approach, called the region-growing method, is reported in this work, which can quantitatively analyze the pore size of ATNT arrays through SEM images, and the surface morphology of ATNT arrays was evaluated based on this.
