Background: Periodontitis, a persistent inflammatory condition, significantly impairs individuals' overall quality of life. Lymphocyte-to-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (LHR), monocyte-to-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (MHR), neutrophil-to-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (NHR), and platelet-to-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (PHR) are new convenient and economical biomarkers. However, whether the above high-density lipoprotein-related inflammatory biomarkers are associated with periodontitis has rarely been investigated.

Discovery of salt-stress-responding genes in the leaf is of great significance for the molecular improvement of salt tolerance in wheat varieties. In this study, transcriptome sequencing was conducted on the leaves of salt-tolerant wheat germplasm CH7034 seedlings at 0, 1, 6, 24, and 48 h after NaCl treatment.

Increasing evidence shows that signals to mitochondria in periodontal cells, including gingival epithelial cells, gingival fibroblast cells, immune cells, etc. Mitochondrial dysfunction affects the cellular state and participates in periodontal inflammatory response through the aberrant release of mitochondrial contents.

It has been proved there is a strong link between periodontal pathogens and oral cancer. However, the specific molecular and cellular pathogenic mechanisms remain to be further elucidated.

Methods: Patients who diagnosed in an earlier period formed the training cohort, and those who diagnosed thereafter formed the validation cohort. Kaplan-Meier analysis was performed for the training cohort by dividing the M1a stage into three subgroups: (I) malignant pleural effusion (MPE) or malignant pericardial effusion (MPCE); (II) separate tumor nodules in contralateral lung (STCL); and (III) pleural tumor nodules on the ipsilateral lung (PTIL).

Background: Comb homolog enhancer 1 (EPC1) gene is one of the important members of epigenetic inhibitor PCG family. It shows carcinogenic potential in a variety of malignant tumors, but the expression and role of EPC1 in nasopharyngeal carcinoma are unclear. The aim of this study was to explore the expression and function of enhancer of polycomb homolog 1 (EPC1) in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC).
